ECHOLS -
My father was Fred H. Echols, bn Walnut Springs Texas, Bosque County on
September 20, 1912. My great uncle Gordon Echols lived all of his life in
Bosque
County and raised his family in Walnut Springs. They owned the Echols Cafe on
Main
Street in Walnut Springs. My Grandfather Fred Echols, Sr. was worked as an
engineer for the railroad and they lived in Walnut Springs for several years.
He was
born and raised in Sommervell County.
I am searching for information on William Glass. I also would like to have
more
information regarding these families and willing to share.

I have heard that records kept by the Masonic Lodge are a good source for
genealogy
research. Most of my ancestor's that lived in the Clifton, Meridian, and
Valley Mills area
were Masons. They were some of the first families to live in Bosque County.
The Everett's,
Goodall's, Wood's, and Helton's. Does anyone know how far back the Mason's
records
for Bosque County go and if they are accessable for family history research?
My Gr-Gr-Grandfather was Alfred W. Fine. He had 160 acres just north of
Clifton. The survey
bears his name and waspatented in 1867 (he had been living there since
1859)with T. Everett
witnessing to his long term residence. I believe the property was
transferred, sold or
some-such shortly after the patent date. Alfred moved to live with family in
Comanche County
about that year. I am interested to know to whom the ownership was
transferred.
If someone could search the property records, I would appreciate it greatly.

Query: When were the first death certificates issued in Bosque Co.
The 1880 census for Bosque Co. lists a family headed by J. B. and
Henrietta STOCKING,
which includes Mary Jane STOCKING, age 10, and Marvin R. STOCKING, age 9. I
am
interested in knowing more about this family. These two children, Mary Jane
and Marvin,
are believed to be siblings, but not children of J. B. and Henrietta. In 1870
Mary Jane, at
3 mo. of age, was in Harris Co., TX in the household of John and Isaac (f)
STOCKING. Family
legend says John's wife and the mother of the children was Loretta GARY, and
that she died
shortly after Marvin'sbirth. Was she connected to the GARY families in Bosque
Co.?
Supposedly the children were left with relatives to be raised, possibly J. B.
and Henrietta
STOCKING in Bosque Co. One source says Henrietta was a PENSON before her
marriage.
Two other girls were listed in the family in 1880.
Looking for any info about the Glenn families of Bosque County
Query: I have a picture of an infant that was found in my great
grandfather Robert Henry Blackwell's papers. The picture has some
writing on the back " only grandaughter Ella Elizabeth Goldsmith". I
have found this family, John W. (Wesley), Dora and Ella on the Bosque
Co. Census records and also in cemetery records. I do not know of any
relation to the Blackwell family, but perhaps there is a connection
through the Clemens line. If anyone knows anything about the Goldsmith
family of Bosque County or any descendants I would love to hear from
you. I don't believe that Ella Elizabeth ever married, but she did have
brother and some sisters. Would be happy to get the picture to the
family and would also love to know what the connection may have been to
my family.
