In the 1860 Census of Tuscaloosa Co., Alabama, page 691, dwelling #755, family #791, is: Pennington, Charles M., male, 33; Nancy, 27; Zackariah, 11; Sallie, 8; Rebecca, 6; and Newt, 2; all born in Alabama.

In the June 29, 1880, Census of Burleson County, Texas, in dwelling #248, lived C.M. (Charles) Pennington, age 54, a white male  farmer, born in Alabama; his wife Nancy Pennington, age 48, a white female, born in Alabama; their children, all born in Alabama: Z.T., age 26, a white male; John, age 21, a white male; Rebecca, age 18, a white female; Eli, age 17, a white male; William, age 15, a white male; Savannah, age 11, a white female; George, age 9, a white male; and Della, age 5, a white female. In dwelling #249 lived Alonzo Miller, a white male farmer, age 31, born in Georgia.

In the May 2-4, 1910, Census of Burleson County, Texas, Precinct #5, in dwelling #380, family #382 is: Pennington, George W., head, 40, single, born in Alabama. In dwelling #381, family #383 is: Pennington, Zach T., head, 62, single; John N., brother, 52, single; and William M., brother, 45, single; all born in Alabama.


In the Burleson County newspaper obituaries was: Mrs. Nancy Pennington, age 69, was laid to rest in the Clement Graveyard, Thursday, March 6, 1900. She leaves a husband, children, grand children, and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Rebecca Pennington Miller, age 45, wife of A.A. Miller of Clay, died Friday, May _, 1900, and was laid to rest in the Clement Graveyard. She was the 2nd member of the (Pennington) family to die this spring. Mrs. (Nancy) Pennington died about 6 weeks ago. Her brother, George Pennington of Allentown, and her niece, Mrs. Ellis of Austin, arrived in tome for the funeral.

Mr. Charles M. Pennington, born in June 1825, in Alabama, was living on June 19, 1900, in the Merle community of Burleson County with his sons: Zack T., Nute, and Will. There are only 3 identifiable graves at what must be the Clement Graveyard in Burleson County, Texas. The monuments are for the 3 sons of Charles M. and Nancy Pennington: Z.T. Pennington, 22 Dec. 1848 – 24 Jan. 1917; John Newt Pennington, 18 Sept. 1858 – 10 Jan, 1933; and William M. Pennington, 24 April 1864 – 20 May 1937. The graves of Mr. Charles M. Pennington, Mrs. Nancy Pennington, and Mrs. Rebecca Pennington Miller were not found.
