Some Descendants of Samuel and Susanna Hastings Pollock Samuel Pollock, a
son of John and Elizabeth Cowan Pollock, was born about 1790 in Tennessee and
died before 1849, probably in Benton County, Alabama. About 1815 in Bedford
County, Tennessee, Samuel married Susannah Hastings who was born about 1794 in
Orange County, North Carolina. Susannah was living in Benton County, Alabama on
January 10, 1850, with her three single sons James age 25, Samuel age 22, and
William age 16. The death dates and burial locations of Samuel and Susannah
Pollock are not known. Their known children are:
1.
Elizabeth Pollock was born 14 December 1816 in Tennessee. She married
Joseph R. Sample on 17 February 1895, in Benton Co., AL. Joseph Sample was born
about 1808 in Tennessee. Joseph and Elizabeth had at least ten children; Mary
born about 1836, Rachel born about 1838, William R. born about 1840, Jane born
about 1842, David Bryant born about 1844, Joseph born about 1848, Nancy J. born
about 1850, James W. born about 1852, Hannah born about 1854, and Margareta born
about 1858, all born in Alabama. Elizabeth P. Sample was living in Lincoln
Parish, Louisiana when she died November 24, 1897, and was buried in the Henry
Cemetery there.

Joseph Hastings Pollock was born about 1818 in Tennessee. He married
Nancy Sample 25 February 1836, in Benton Co., AL. Nancy was born about 1818 in
Tennessee and died in January 1870 in Burleson County, Texas. Joseph was a wagon
maker, carpenter, and farmer. Their known children, all born in Alabama, are;
Mary born about 1837, Frances born about 1840, Sarah J. born about 1843, Robert
born about 1845, John born about 1850, Samuel born about 1851, Marion F. born
about 1856, and Henry Leonidas Pollock born 22 June 1859, and died 16 December
1898, in Gillespie County, Texas. with burial in Caldwell’s Masonic Cemetery,
Burleson Col, TX. Joseph H. Pollock married Fannie E. Kirkland on 16 January
1872,, in Burleson Co., TX. On 5 June 1880, Joseph, Fannie, and Henry L. Pollock
were living in Burleson Co., TX> Joseph is reported to have died about 1895 in
Burleson Co., TX but his grave has not been located.

Nancy H. Pollock Was born 12 February 1820, in Tennessee. She and Thomas
Wallin (October 20, 1818 – January 15, 1870) were married about 1841 in Bedford
County, Tennessee. They had at least nine children with seven born in Alabama
and two born after moving to Burleson County, Texas about 1859. Their known
children are; Francis “Frank” M., Alexander Polk, Tennessee, George, James
Bowden, Henry Joshua, Eugene, John, and Nancy Wallin who died at birth. Mrs.
Nancy Pollock Wallin died 15 October, 1862, and is buried in the Elizabeth
Chapel Cemetery along with her husband Thomas Wallin.

Sarah M. Pollock was born about 1822 in Tennessee. She married William
Smith on 5 February 1840, in Benton County, Alabama. William was born about 1819
in Tennessee. On June 2, 1880, William Sarah, and their daughters Mary J. age 21
and Margaret age 19 were living in Cleburne County, Alabama.

Mary C. Pollock was born 18
March 1824, in Tennessee. She married George R. Cole on 25 November 1847 in
Bedford County, Alabama. George was born 25 November 1825, in Tennessee. Mary,
George, and their one year old daughter Nancy were living in Benton Co., AL,
along with Mary’s brother Henry Pollock, age 18. Mary C. Cole is buried in the
Cole Cemetery in Cleburne Co., AL.
6. James
Pollock was born about 1825 in Tennessee. He married Susan Thompson about 1851
in Benton Co., AL where they were living during the 1850 Census.
7.
John Wesley D. Pollock was born 2 April 1828, in Bedford Co., TN. He
married Salina “Lina” Ponder on 28 September 1848, in Calhoun Co., AL. Salina
was born 26 June 1830, in Tennessee. Their known children are: Adolphus ( May
20, 1851 – January 3, 1930); Franklin Pierce ( May 8, 1853 – August 8, 1930);
James Buchanan “Buck” (August 16, 1856 – December 25, 1878); John E. ( born in
August 1860); and Anna W. “Annie” Pollock. Anna was born 10 October 1862, in
Burleson Co., TX, married Jeptha E. Collins on 21 August 1878, in Cooks Point,
Burleson Co., TX, had six children, and died 11 May 1938 in Collin Co., TX, with
burial in Burleson Co., TX. John Wesley Pollock and Salina Ponder Pollock’s date
of death and place of burial are not known.

Samuel M. Pollock was born about 1828 in Tennessee. In the 1850 Census of
Benton County, Alabama, Samuel, a 22 year old single male born in Tennessee, was
living with his single brothers James and William and their mother Susanna
Pollock.
9.
Henry B. Pollock was born about 1832 in Tennessee. He married Nancy Jane
Peters about 1852 in Benton Co., AL. On 12 July
1860, in Burleson Co., TX, Henry, his wife Nancy, and their four children
were living with Nancy’s parents. Henry B. Pollock died about 1874 in Burleson
Co., TX, and Nancy Peters Pollock died 26 July 1884, in Burleson Co., TX. Their
burial locations are not known.
10.
William A. Pollock was born 5 July 1837, in Benton CO., AL. He married
Parthenia Driggers on 20 May 1873, in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana. Parthenia was
born27 April 1847, in Georgia and died 20 January 1888. She is buried in the
Henry Cemetery in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana. William Married Parsilla A. and
they lived in Bienville Parish Louisiana. Parsilla was born 9 September 1836,
and died 28 July 1907. William’s known children are: David, Sallie, Eric B.,
William L., Mary K., John, Bettie, E.A.L., Joe, and M.N. Pollock. William A.
Pollock was a Private in Co. A, 7th Regt Alabama Cavalry, CSA. He died 18
October 1919, and is buried in Old Saline Baptist Church Cemetery in Bienville
Parish, Louisiana.
