Wreck Sunday Night.
Another freight train was wrecked a the
curve below town
Sunday Night, about nine cars of lumber being derailed, and all
traffic blocked for several hours. Foratunately no one was hurt.
This is one fo the worst places on the Santa Fe road in Texas,
and there has been a number of wrecks there in the past ten years,
costing the road perhaps much more that it would to straighten the
curve and take out the grade. It seems fortunate, however, that no
one has been hurt at this place.
Killing in Brazos Bottom
A shooting occurred at Parker's upper store
in the bottom Saturday
night between two negroes, Israel Lawrence killing Joe Wyatt with a
six-shooter. The trouble occurred over a difference of about one dollar
in a poker game.
Lawrence wa splaced under bond Sunday at Tunis, and the grand
jury
has returned an indictment and he is now in jail, the case being set for
Monday of next week.
