J. M. DIXON was appointed postmaster at Gause.

Const. L. Y. TIDWELL of Milano is hustling some of the boys.

Joe FOWLER will add new merchandise to his stock. [Gause]

James PITTS will commence to build a new dwelling and W. J. PORTER will do the work. [Gause]

Oscar FORBION is in town buying timber for foreign markets.

James NEWMAN had his arm severely cut at DUCKWORTH’s gin in the Providence neighborhood.

L. S. ROSS, president of A&M placed a notice that the state Agriculture & Mechanical College can receive no more students this term. They are full.

Oscar ELLIS has gone to Mudville on a visit.

Frank NOVAK of the Bird settlement died last Sunday.

Waco, Texas, Sept. 8: Prof. G. L. RUSSELL, age 73 was arrested and put in jail. He has been a schoolteacher for many years. The charge is criminal assault on Ola RAMSEY, the 12-year-old daughter of highly respected parents. The physician says the little girl is much injured.

Ned JENKINS shot and attempted to kill Charlie GREGG, a Negro for being “insulting.” Mr. JENKINS is awaiting the action of the grand jury while on bond.

Dr. MAHON of Marshall, Texas has rented a house in Gause and will hang up his shingle there, giving Gause three doctors.

Diphtheria is raging at Six-Mile and Cedar Creek neighborhoods.

J. M. DIXON and J. A. ELY are both soliciting the postmaster job at Gause.

Mrs. COVINGTON is building a couple of houses on her farm. [Gause]

Messrs. Clarence VARNER, James STEWART, Joe FOWLER, Bob COCKRAN and Mr. JENNINGS are in town. [Gause]

George E. WAFORD, the general manager of MARLIN BALL is taking a wife.

E. H. BARNETT, agent for Santa Fe, was awarded second prize by Santa Fe for the best station house. He is formerly from Caldwell.

Mrs. Mary JOINER and Albert D. RUST, Jr. left for a business trip to Nacogdoches. Mrs. JOINER will visit relatives in Monroe, Louisiana.

Dr. OLIVER was severely ill. Dr. Will OLIVER and brother Curtis OLIVER, both sons of the doctor were called.

Charles HESSE, 2nd mate of the steamer, LaCharlotte is visiting family of his brother in law, Charles C. WINDHAUSEN.

H. ALFORD sold his meat market to BARNETT & NELMS. Mr. Louis WHITTINGTON will still officiate at his trade, only in new place.

J. A. LOVE of Yellow Prairie community, becoming suspicious of his valuable dog, Jack having rabies killed him early Sunday evening.

Dr. J. E. McLEAN’s fine saddle & buggy horse died Tuesday morning, quite a loss to the doctor.  [Yellow Prairie community]

MISS HENRIE ADKINSON, who was visiting relatives in Houston, has returned.

J. D. ROWLAND moved his billiard room to the building vacated by T. F. HUDSON and the A. T. HUDSON stock of goods.

Jesse JENKINS moved his jewelry shop.

John L. NEWCOMB, one of Burleson County pioneer settlers is in town.

Theodore and Ike BROADDUS, brothers and ----- BROADDUS, a cousin and Robert ADDISON left town in a hack. They went to the residence of Henry AUTREY, where they meet Miss Mattie TEAGUE. Together they went to Rev. W. E. JAMES, who they met along the road to his house. Rev. JAMES stopped his buggy in the road and married them. The couple s living with the groom’s father, H. C. BROADDUS and they have hopes of reconciling with the bride’s father who was against the marriage.
