Albert Burton
Albert "Pete" Burton, 79, died tuesday at a Stamford hospital following a
lengthy illness.
Services were at 2 p.m. Friday at Albany Cemetery wit the Rev Oden officiating,
directed by Godfrey Funeral Home.
A Shackelford County native, he served in the Navy during World War II in Scily,
Germany and Algeria. He worked in the oil fields and was a
heavy-equiptment operator for Shackelford County for the past 18 years. He
was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Leta Alexander Burton of Albany; a son, Albert
D Burton of Albany; a daughter, Saundra Thurman of Breckenridge; three sisters,
Jewel Alexander of Breckenridge, Mildred Dendy of Albany and Julia Martin of
Albany; and three grandsons.
