Martin, wife of Uncle John Martin, deceased, died Saturday, February 23rd, at the home of her daughter, Mrs George Tinney.  The deceased was in her seventy-fourth year, and was one of the pioneers of Shackelford County.  She was the mother of nine children, seven boys and two girls, and if we mistake not, all nine of the children are living.  Grandma Martin as she was christened by her kinsfolk and neighbors, was one of the old-fashioned Southern women taht has survived and escaped the evolutionary period and was the prototype of old-fashion motherhood.  Yes, she had a conscientious scruples, and lived and died by them.  Who was a devoted wife and loving mother and a noble christian woman-was a member of the Baptist church.  Her last remains were laid to rest in the albany Cemetery Sunday evening.
Brother McMahen officiated at the funeral services.  The news joins all in extending condolence to the bereaved family.
