Breckenridge (TX) News:
Gunsight News
by Mrs. W. S. Dye.
On Tuesday, December 4, 1951, at 2:13 a.m. the grim reaper of death invaded the Baggett home and took for its tool the loving son, Andrew Cole Baggett. He was born April 19, 1930, at Gunsight, and spent all his life here except the three years he spent in the U.S. Navy.
On Monday night he had supper with his uncle and aunt Guy and Millie Baggett of Breckenridge and within 24 hours he lay the sweetest corpse we ever looked upon. The flowers he loved in life covered his casket.
Cole was a boy everyone loved; truly he was a flower bloomed on earth, transplanted to heaven to bloom in The Masters Boquet.
He will be sadly missed in our community and in the home there is a vacant chair that can never be filled.
There is a broken link in the chain of the Baggett family on this earth, but the prayer of this writer is that when time is no more, there will be a reuntied [sic] family in heaven where there will be no more heart aches and no more good byes.
Andrew Cole Baggett gave his life to Christ in July of 1944 and was a faithful christian from then on. He told his mother and father the day before he died not to worry about him; that if anything happened to him he was prepared to go. He planned to leave Wednesday for the Navy for one more years service to his country.
We would say to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Baggett, to weep not as those who have no hope, and live so we can all meet Cole some day in heaven.

This obituary was written by their son Charles Andrew Baggett:
To The Memory of Mother

Delilah Baggett wife of A. J. Baggett which departed this life August 4, 1895. Delilah Glover was her maiden name. She became the wife of A. J. Baggett January 25th, 1850. They lived happily together as husband and wife 45 years, 6 months, and 10 days. They had born to them 14 children, 9 of which with a devoted husband, she leaves to mourn their loss. She was the grandmother of 40 children, 35 of which she leaves to follow her. At the age of 65 years, 11 months and 4 days, she peacefully and submissively, without a struggle or pain, accepts the inevitable appointment of all men once to die. For 38 years mother lived a consistent Christian. Mother leaves a vacant place that never can be filled on earth. Just here we are compelled to ask what is home without a mother? It has lost its attraction, therefore it is incomplete. Realizing as we now do that death ends all opportunities for making mother happy, let me say to all who still have that opportunity, to be sure you have nothing to regret when she is gone. Believing that heaven is what heaven means, what can it be to mother without her children, then with one voice let us all exclaim, Mother we are coming to enjoy with you the happiness of heaven through the ceaseless ages of eternity. I pray to God to let us live, so that we can exclaim from the very depth of our souls, three of the sweetest words that is on record, Mother, Home, and Heaven.
