Documentation: Most of the birth information was obtained from Viola Newman when she was living. The death information was from a trip to the Gunsight Cemetary, living relatives, Howard County Cemetary and the Memorial Park Cemetary, Amarillo, Potter Co., TX. Wedding information was from Viola Newman, also. Hattie Newman's wedding information was from copies of her marriage license and out of the family Bible. I also, have copies of letters written by Martha Alice to her husband when he left Mississippi and came to Texas to find a place for her and the children to live after the Civil War. .
