Mrs. Lentz Dies In San Angelo
Mrs. Roger Lentz, who has been ill in a hospital at San Angelo for the past few
months, died Saturday at 12:12 o’clock.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 5 o’clock in San Angelo, Rev.
Amos Myers of Breckenridge officiating. Pallbearers, Mr. Myers said, will be
young men from her Sunday School Class of the First Christian Church.
Mrs. Lentz a resident of Breckenridge since the early boom days enjoyed a host
of friends her who mourn her passing. Besides her husband she is survived by a
brother, Mac Smith of Breckenridge of the immediate family.
Mrs. Lentz was a member of a number of clubs and actively engaged in the affairs
of the city and community until she became seriously ill about six months ago.

Rites Said For Mrs. Lentz
Many friends from here go to San Angelo to attend funeral
A large group of friends from Breckenridge attended funeral services in San
Angelo Monday for Mrs. Roger Lentz who died there Saturday afternoon following a
lingering illness.
Services were held at the First Christian Church there. Rev. Amos Myers of
Breckenridge officiating. The front of the church was banked with flowers, music
being furnished by a hidden choir.
Her pastor paid high tribute to her memory as a church and community worker,
among other things saying that in her work in the church the young people,
especially young boys she has influenced would make a long list of names.
Burial followed there, Harris Veal, Sidney Hughes Jr., Owen Fauntleroy Jr.,
Benton Weatherford, William Shaw and Robert Wilson of Breckenridge serving as
pallbearers.
Mrs. Lentz was born in Hopkins County, August 13, 1892. Many years ago her
father drove to San Angelo where she and several brothers were reared. She came
to Breckenridge in the early boom days and since had been associated with the
life of the city in a business and social way.
Besides her husband and step son, W.S. Lents, Phillips, Texas, and a step
daughter, Mrs. D.L. Burton of Tulsa, Oklahoma, she is survived by her mother,
Mrs. B.J. Smith of San Angelo, and her brothers. The brothers are A.E., Esker,
Ben, Camp Hood and Sam of San Angelo; D.M., Corpus Christi, U.S., Ozona, and Mac
Smith of Breckenridge.
