Brenham Banner Press, Wednesday, January 9, 1935, page 3 Burton News Mrs. Minnie Nienstedt, widow of the late Henry Nienstedt died at her home Monday afternoon, age 72 years. She was born November 15, 1862 at Mecklenberg, Germany and came to America at the age of 20 years, and resided in Washington County for the past 53 years. The deceased was married January 9, 1892 to the late Henry Nienstedt who preceded her to the grave 12 years ago. She was one of the prominent and highly esteemed women of her community and was loved by all who knew her. For numerous years she was an active and devout member of St. Johns Evangelical church and practiced her religion in her daily life. Mrs. Nienstedt is survived by the following children: Will Nienstedt of Corpus Christi; Mrs. B. F. Blackburn and Miss Annie Nienstedt, of Burton; one son having died in infancy; four grandchildren and a host of warm friends to mourn her death. Funeral services were held from the family residence at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. A. Walton, pastor of the Evangelical church officiating. She was laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery by the side of her husband and both graves were covered with beautiful flowers. Active pallbearers were B. N. Weeren, Will H. Weeren, H. J. Weeren, Elwood Fisher, Woodrow Boone and A. G. Homeyer. All friends of the family were asked to consider themselves honorary pallbearers. Numerous friends from Giddings, Brenham, LaGrange, Austin, Bellville, Bryan, and Houston were here to attend the funeral of the late Mrs. Minnie Nienstedt.
