Brenham, Tex., Sept. 6.--Rev. Hosea GARRETT, aged 87 years, died at his residence near Chappell hill on Tuesday morning. The deceased was the oldest citizen of Washington county, having immigrated in 1841. He was the founder and president of the board of trustees of Baylor university and often encouraged that institution with money during its early struggles. The funeral services took place yesterday evening at the Baptist church here, and was attended by many members of all denominations who honored and loved the grand old man.
