BIBLE, Frank O., age 87, of 309 Rose Street, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, Dec. 27, (1955). BICE, Alden N., 68, of Seattle, a Ferndale pioneer and player of Al's Old Calliope, died Wednesday (July 1, 1981) in Seattle of a heart attack. He was born March 29, 1913, in Ferndale. His father was one of the first doctors in the Ferndale area. He performed at the Old settlers Parade and at local business openings and festivals all over the state. He was a member of Seattle Musicians Union 76 and was the musician for several Masonic organizations in Seattle. He was a member of Tyee Lodge 115, F&AM; Nile Temple of the Shrine and Scottish Rite Bodies. He was a ham radio operator and is now Silent Key K7JZT. He is survived by his wife Irene, a daughter, two sons, a sister, two grandchildren and numerous other relatives. Masonic memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Bleitz Funeral Home in Seattle's Fremont district.

BICKFORD, Lyle M., former teacher and musician, died August 12, 2005. He was born in Swan River, Manitoba, Canada to Vern and Olga Bickford, March 7, 1919, he was 86. After living in Pelly, Sask. and Vancouver, B. C., he completed High School in Greenfield, Iowa. He served in the U. S. Navy for six years as a Radioman. Upon his return, he started college in Bellingham and resumed studying piano. He met his future wife at the piano teacher's studio. On August 23, 1947, he married Cheryl M. Smith in Bellingham. He received his B. A. and M. A. in Education from WWU and taught in Ocosta, WA. He also taught in the Shoreline School District. His love of history, led him to also receive an M. A. Degree from U. W. Music was another important part of his life and he has loved all types of music. He was editor of the Musicians Paper and a life time member of Local 76. Member and "Scribe" of the North Seattle Exchange Club. Prior to his stroke he played in a Dixieland Jazz Band and a Big Band Symphonic Swing. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cheryl M. Bickford and two sisters Ruby Bodine, Laguna Woods, CA and Doreen Collins, Roseville, CA and and an aunt Irma Bickford, Greenfield, Iowa. BICKING, Alice G., age 64, of Lummi Island, passed away in a local hospital, Sunday, Sept. 10, (1950). Mrs. Bicking had been a resident of the island for the past 14 years and was a member of the Episcopal Church and Lummi Island Grange. Surviving relatives are her husband, Charles R. BICKNELL, Lola, of 2128A North Shore Rd., passed away in a local hospital Thursday September 10, (1964) following a short illness. She had been a resident for the past 22 years and was a well known retired businesswoman. She was a member of the Silver Beach Community Church, the Women's Bible Class of The Firs, and the Businesswomen's Club. BIDLACK, George L., age 67 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Bidlack, 1303 Eleventh Street, passed away Sunday, July 29, (1945) after a brief illness. BIEHLE, Eileen Phylis, age 63, of Everson, passed away at the family home Wednesday, Dec. 23, (1959). She was born in Iowa and came here when she was five years old and has lived in the Everson district her entire life. Surviving relatives include her husband, Paul; one son, George of Everson; one daughter, Margaret Horton of Bellingham; one brother, Orville Willard of California; two sisters, Mrs. Otto Biehle of Everson, and Mrs. Agnes Burke of Marysville, and four grandchildren. BIEHLE, Otto L., age 86 of 513 E. Main St., Everson, passed away at home Thurs., July 13, 1978. A life time resident of the Everson area, he was a retired farmer and carpenter, served with the United States Army in WWI and was a life member and past commander of VFW Post No. 3685. BIELASKI, Joseph, age 62, of Lawrence, passed away in a Seattle hospital Wednesday, Feb. 10, (1954). BIERWARD, Jack W., age 46, of Crescent City, Calif., passed away at Brookings, Ore., Monday, Nov. 17, (1958). BIESHEUVEL, Maggie, age 78 of 205 South B.C. Ave., Lynden, was born on June 6, 1903, and died in a Bellingham Hospital on January 1, 1982. Maggie and her husband, Dick, were married in Lynden on October 1, 1925. They were life time residents of Whatcom County and members of the First Christian Reformed Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick, who passed away on January 8, 1955. She is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Harriet (Jake) Vreugdenhil; Mrs. Ruth (Rod) Likkel; both of Lynden, and Mrs. Margie (Doede) Postma, of Sumas. A son, Mr. Rich (Ada) Biesheuvel of Lynden; 2 sisters, Mrs. Betty (Simon) Stremler, and Mrs. Ann Heusinkveld, both of Lynden; 2 brothers, Mr. Arthur Oordt and Mr. Andrew Oordt, all of Lynden; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. BILES, Frank W., age 86, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, Jan. 2, (1963) following an extended illness. Mr. Biles had lived in Whatcom County the past 16 years, the past eight years with his daughter, Miss Ella Biles of 1387 Meridian Road. Other survivors are three sons, Harvey of Custer, Frank of Lynden, Arnold of Everett; one sister, Mrs. Ella Shupe of White Rock, B. C., and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted in the Moles Funeral Home, Friday, Jan. 4, at 1:30 p. m. Final resting place Woodlawn Cemetery.

BILLERMAN, Frank T., age 91, of 1509 E. Victor, passed away Saturday Feb. 4, (1978). Mr. Billerman was a 46 year resident of this community, a retired logger, WWI Veteran, a member of the Senior Citizens Activity Center. Surviving 1 sister, Mrs. Bertha Vest of Seminole, Oklahoma, nieces and nephews. Interment at Bay View Cemetery, Tuesday Feb. 7 at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.

BILLHIMER, Jacob Frank, aged 75 years, passed away at the Masonic Home at Zenith, Wash., May 4, after a long illness. He was a member of Yakima Lodge No. 24, F. & A. M. of Yakima, Wash. He leaves no known surviving relatives. Funeral services were held in the Rose Chapel of the Homer Mark Mortuary Wednesday evening, May 8, at 7:30 o'clock, with the ritualistic services of Whatcom Lodge No. 51, F. & A. M., followed by cremation.

BILLIG, Emma E. Funeral services for Mrs. Emma E. Billig aged 44 years, beloved wife of Max E. Billig, 204 Flora street, who passed away Wednesday, November 2, (1932) will be held in the Cathedral chapel of the Homer Mark Mortuary Sunday afternoon, November 6, at 2 o'clock. Cremation. Mrs. Billig had resided in Bellingham for the past three years and leaves a host of friends to mourn her passing. Surviving relatives, besides her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. G. H. Coleman, Pittsford, N. Y., and Mrs. William Sage, Salisbury, N. C.

BILLINGS, Ida M., age 64, of Olean, New York, passed away Monday, August 1, (1955) in a local hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Billings had been visiting her nephew, George Leonard of Ferndale. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olean. She is survived by a brother, George, of Andover, New York, and one nephew, George Leonard, of Ferndale. Remains are being forwarded Tuesday by the Monroe Mortuary in Ferndale to Wellsville, New York, for funeral services and interment.

BILLOU, Anna L., age 78 years, passed away Tuesday, December 25, (1951) in a Bellingham hospital. She had been a resident of Blaine for many years and a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors are one son, William Gregory, a granddaughter, Miss Betty Ann Gregory, Seattle, and a niece, Mrs. Mella Howsare, in Iowa. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. L. B. Jenkins, at the McKinney Funeral Home, Blaine, at 2:30 p. m., Friday, Dec. 28. Cremation. Instead of flowers, friends are asked to donate to charity.

BILLS, Herbert E., age 57, who resided at Orcas Island, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, Sept. 20, (1961). Mr. Bills had resided in Orcas for the past 11 years and he owned and operated the Orcas Home Service. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. of East Sound. He leaves to survive his wife, Winifred M. of Orcas, Mrs. Petty Dimond; two grandsons, William and Timothy of Auburn, Wash. Rev. Norman B. Harrison will conduct funeral services Friday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Bingham and Jerns Funeral Home, followed by cremation. The family request that those who desire may contribute to the Orcas Island Library Fund.

BILLS, Rufus Augustus, age 84, of Route 3, Lynden, passed away in a Bellingham hospital Wednesday, March 21, (1951) following a lingering illness. Mr. Bills had been a resident of the Lynden district for the past 42 years. Surviving relatives include one sister, Mrs. Delia Stallard, of Lynden, and several nieces and nephews. BINDON, James Pattison, who was a resident of Bellingham, passed away in this city on September 13, (1954) at the age of 84 years following a lingering illness. Mr. Bindon had resided in Bellingham for the past 37 years and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He was a former business man in Bellingham, at one time owner and operator of the Washington Plumbing Co. He leaves to survive him two daughters, Mrs. Dora Haan of Bellingham, and Mrs. Queenie Melosh, Marysville, Wash.; one son, Leonard W. Bindon of Seattle; also four grandchildren, Carol and Bruce Nethven (Methven?) and David Haan, all of Bellingham, and Rodney E. Bindon of Seattle; one sister, Mrs. Annie Bindon, of Auckland, New Zealand. The Rev. Father Robert W. BINGHAM, Bertha Elizabeth, age 85, of 1817 Knox, passed away in a local hospital Friday, April 15, (1955). Mrs. Bingham had been a resident of this community the past 58 years and was a member of Jehovah's Witness. Survivors include two sons, Lawrence F. of Seattle and E. Lee of San Francisco, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Rachel Grinstead of Bellingham and Mrs. Rebekah Anderson of Portland, Ore.; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. BINSCHUS, Alice I., age 75, formally (sic) of Bellingham, passed away at a Federal Way rest home, Fri. April 28, 1978. She had been a resident of Bellingham for 33 years, moving to Kent 3 years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in Aug. 1976. She was a member of the Bellingham Women's Benefit Assoc., surviving are 1 son Richard of Kent, and 3 grandchildren. Services Mon. BINSCHUS, Carl Ernest "Butch", age 64, of 2014 Cowgill, passed away at a local hospital Monday, April 30, (1951) following a short illness. Mr. Binschus had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 42 years. He was a veteran of W. W. I. and a member of the American Legion and the Warehousemen's Union, and was a former employee of the P. A. F. BINZER, Harry A., age 61 years, of 901 16th Street, passed away Wednesday, June 17, (1959). He had lived in Bellingham 37 years and was secretary and assistant treasurer of the Puget Sound Pulp & Timber Co. Mr. Binzer was a former state senator and trustee of Western Washington College, a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7, American Legion, having been a veteran of World War I and II. He is survived by his wife, Mary K. Binzer, at the home; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Kelley and Mrs. Mary Ann Binzer, both of Bellingham; four grandsons, Mark Kelley, Bobby, Roger and David Adams, all of the city; also two brothers, Carl and Roy Binzer of Seattle. BIRCHETT, Jesse Leroy, age 71, of 1319 Franklin St., passed away at home Saturday, Jan. 5, (1957). Mr. Birchett was a retired logger and lived in Blaine from 1921 until 1942 when he moved to Bellingham. Surviving relatives include the widow, Edith, at the family home; two sons, Robert Birchett of Philadelphia, Pa., and Arthur Birchett of Seattle; two daughters, Mrs. Alexa Chartier of Bellingham and Mrs. Irene Walters of Redding, Calif.; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Earl Merrill of Seattle, Archie Merrill and Lyle Merrill, both in Montana; and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Vickie in Montana. BIRDWELL, William Riley, age 72 years, whose residence was 2532 Iron Street, passed away at a local hospital Monday, November 23, (1953) following a lingering illness. Mr. Birdwell had been a resident of this vicinity for his entire lifetime and was a member of the Gospel Hall. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Birdwell; one sister, Mrs. Charles B. BIRMINGHAM, Laura, age 60, of 1312 State street, passed away at a local hospital Friday, June 4, (1948). Mrs. Birmingham had resided here the past four years and was a member of the Revival Tabernacle. BISHOP, Ava W., aged 74 years, passed away at a local hospital Friday, March 31, (1950). Mrs. Bishop a pioneer, came to the Yakima Valley in 1903 and lived near Sunnyside until 1907 when she with her family located on a farm on the Smith Road. A member of the Garden Street Methodist Church and the W. S. C. S. The survivors include the husband Frank Bishop, two sons, John W. at home and Leo W., Bellingham, one daughter Mrs. Helen Finsberg, this city, one sister Mrs. Lucy Wing and one brother Everett Wood both of Los Angeles, Calif. BISHOP, Ben, age 62 years, passed away suddenly at his home in Blaine, Sunday morning, May 12, (1946). He is survived by his wife, Nora; four sisters, Mrs. F. A. BISHOP, Bernice, 74, Route 1, Sumas, passed away in a Bellingham hospital Monday (Aug. 7, 1967) following an extended illness. Born in Sumas, April 17, 1893, she was a daughter of an early pioneer family, Mr. and Mrs. James R. Swartwood. A lifetime resident of Sumas, she was married to William Bishop there on December 12, 1909. Mrs. Bishop was a member of the Sumas Advent Christian Church. Surviving are her husband, William; four son, Bill and Gale, both of Bellingham; James of Burlington and Bradley of Moses Lake; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Reynolds of Bellingham; one brother, Earl Swartwood of Anacortes. Also 21 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Sumas Advent Christian Church, to day at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Earl Crouse officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow in the Sumas Cemetery under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home. BISHOP, Carolyn L., age 29, of Rt. 1, East Stanwood, passed away suddenly at her home Wednesday, Aug. 3, 1960. Mrs. Bishop had attended W.W.C.E., and leaves to survive her husband, Bradley Bishop; one daughter, Sharon Diane; three sons, Bradley, Bret, Brian, all of the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hansen of East Stanwood; three sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Olsen of Oak Harbor, Mrs. Pauline Temet of Marysville, Mrs. Lillian Ford of Seattle; her grandmother, Mrs. Olena Hansen of Stanwood; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bishop had been a resident of the Sumas district for the past 51 years. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Nellie Hoffman, Seattle, Mrs. Mary Remington, Mrs. Alice Mead, both of Bellingham; five sons, William E., Thomas, George and Arthur, all of Sumas, and Frank, of Sedro Woolley; 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. BISHOP, Etta L., age 89, a Sedro Woolley resident since 1968, died at a local nursing home Sun. Jan. 22, (1978). She was born in Minnesota June 10, 1888. She was a long time resident of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Before moving to Sedro Woolley she was a resident of the Acme Community her husband Edward preceded her in death in 1968. Mrs. Bishop is survived by 2 sons, Pete, Williams Lake, B.C., Gordon, Sedro Woolley, 3 daughters, Beryl Truscott of Spokane, Constance Parker of Alaska, Lenore Vanderburg of California, a sister Mrs. Louis Anderson of Texas. 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She had been a lifetime resident of Whatcom County and made her home in Bellingham for the past 13 years. BISHOP, Hariett F., age 94, a former resident of 3109 Birchwood Avenue, passed away in a local hospital, Thursday, Feb. 24, (1956). Mrs. Bishop had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 55 years; was a life member of Clover Leaf Camp No. 3402, Royal Neighbors of Lynden, and a life member of the Rebekah Lodge in Rochester, Ind. Many nieces and nephews in the east survive Mrs. Bishop. The remains rest at Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home, where services will be conducted by the Rev. BISHOP, Mabel, age 58, of Burlington, former Whatcom County resident, passed away Wed., Feb. 23, (1977) in a Mt. Vernon hospital. She was born Dec. 24, 1918 in Ellsworth, Michigan, the daughter of Walter and Lydia Youngdyke and came with her parents to Whatcom County in 1927. She was a graduate of Mt. Baker High School and Bellingham Business College. Her marriage to James P. Bishop took place August 30, 1941 in Sumas. Mrs. Bishop has made her home in Burlington since 1958. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star, Emblem Club, Wash. Athletic Club, B'ham Yacht Club and B'ham Skagit Gold & Country Clubs. Surviving are her husband, James at home; 2 daughters, Mrs. Don (Sandra) Noblet and Cheryl Bishop, both of Burlington; 1 son, James E. Bishop of Burlington, 5 grandchildren; 1 sister, Ruby Huyler and 1 brother, Edward Youngdyke, both of Bellingham. She was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Farly and her parents. BISHOP, Mabel Adra, age 56 years of 1213 Hannegan Road, passed away Sunday, October 9, (1955) while visiting her daughter in Sedro Woolley. Mrs. Bishop had been a resident of Whatcom County 35 years. She was a member of the Local No. 811 Cannery Workers Union. She is survived by her husband, Walter; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Flaherty, Sedro Woolley; Mrs. Doris Johnson, of Kennewick, and Mrs. Geraldine Holmgren, of Astoria, Ore.; one son, Wallace, of Sedro Woolley; four grandchildren. BISHOP, Mary C., age 80, Sumas, passed away Monday, January 1, (1973). She was a lifelong resident of Whatcom County. She was a member of the Sumas American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving her are one daughter, Juanita Legerway, Sumas; three sons, Harold, Sumas, John, Bellingham, and Lloyd, Anacortes; sisters, Mildren Slater, White Rock, B.C. and Mrs. Charles Potter, Rapid City, South Dakota, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. BISHOP, Raymond J., age 60, resident of 402 Reed St., Sedro Woolley, former Renton resident, died March 15, 1978 in Sedro Woolley. He was born in California in 1918 & was a veteran of WWII. BISHOP, William Hampton, age 71, of 2418 Williams Street, passed away at a local hospital Wednesday, November 29, (1950) following a lingering illness. BISSETT, David G., age 54 of Rt. 2 Everson, passed away suddenly Friday, March 16, (1956). BITTERMAN, Valentine, age 88, of Route 1, Lynden, passed away Wednesday, October 1, (1947) following a short illness. BIXBY, Priscilla, age 55, passed away in a local hospital Monday, Sept. 24, (1956). Mrs. Bixby had resided in this community for the past 24 years and was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist. BIXBY, Vernon C. - A telegram was received today by Attorney Frank W. Bixby from his wife, stating that his son, Vernon Charles Bixby, had died at a sanitarium in Banning, Cal., this morning (March 1, 1920) at the age of 22 years. Mr. Bixby took the young man there from Bellingham about six weeks ago. The mother will bring the body to Bellingham and funeral announcements will be made by Arthur C. Harlow. Vernon Bixby was prominent in the Whatcom high and Normal schools, where he was a leading athlete, and he was one of the city's first young men to enlist in the war. He was a graduate of the Whatcom high school and was center basketball player at the Normal. He was a member of the Garden Street M. E. church. He enlisted in the coast artillery when he was 19 years of age and was ten months overseas. It was while he was in France that he contracted the disease that caused his death. He had been ill nearly two years. The survivors are the parents, one brother, Earl, of Mount Vernon, and two sisters, Miss Florence Bixby, who is teaching school at Beach, Lummi island, and Miss Miriam Bixby, who lives at home, 303 Twenty-first street.

BJARNSON, Abraham, age 64, 1455 Franklin Street, passed away at home Friday, January 3, (1964). Mr. Bjarnson was a fifty-year resident of this city and was a locomotive engineer for the Great Northern Railway. He was a member of the First Christian Church; F. O. Eagles, Aerie No. 31, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Survivors are his widow, Georgia, at home; three sons, Ronald and Donald, both of this city, and Robert in the U. S. Navy, San Diego; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Woltman of Oakland, California, and numerous nieces and nephews. BJERKE, Emma Mary, age 70, formerly a resident of Everson for 20 years, passed away in San Diego, Tuesday, April 22, (1958). BJERKE, Peter T., age 90, Nooksack, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, June 8, (1963). Mr. Bjerke was a fifty year resident of this community; was a mechanic for the Yellow Cab Co. in Seattle before his retirement, and was a member of the Little Church by the Roadside, Seattle. BJORKLIE, Carl B., age 89, of 405 Irving St. passed away in a local nursing home Friday, Oct. 12, (1962). Mr. Bjorklie had resided in this community since 1907; was a retired commercial fisherman and was a member of the Central Lutheran Church. BJORLIE, Lars P. "Lewis", age 89, of 2838 Ellis Street, passed away at a local hospital, Wednesday afternoon, August 31, (1949) following a short illness. BLACKMAN, E. J., age 81 years, of Glacier Star Route, passed away at a local hospital, Tuesday, January 22, (1946) following a lingering illness. He was formerly operator of the stage between Mosquito Lake and Bellingham. Mr. Blackman is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eva M. Blackman, and one son, Donald of Bellingham. BLACKMAN, Eva, age 82, formerly of the American Hotel, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, April 30, (1961). Widow of the late Edward J. Blackman, she resided in the Wickersham and Deming areas from 1908 to 1946 and had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 15 years. Survivors are one son, Donald Blackman, of Bellingham; three grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Sickles, in Michigan. BLACKMAN, Merrill Dean (Rusty), 2838 Nevada St., age 26, passed away in Anchorage, Alaska, (Oct. 1974). A 20 year resident of this city, Mr. Blackman was a 1965 graduate of Bellingham High School and served with the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam for 4 years. He was a firemen for the Alaska Railroad. BLACKSTOCK, William Charles, age 92, of 1509 E. Victor Street, passed away in a local hospital on Wednesday, June 6, (1962). Mr. Blackstock was a retired carpenter, and had resided in this community for the past 52 years. He was a member of the Carpenters and Jointers Union, Local No. 756, and the Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 31. Survivors are two sons, William H. Blackstock of Bellingham; G. Earl Blackstock, Seattle; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Case and Mrs. Rolland Paus, both of Bellingham; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Blackstock, Pennsylvania, and one sister, Mrs. Lillian Holt in Pennsylvania. BLACKSTOCK, William H., age 70 of 1313 E. Maryland, passed away Monday, October 5, (1964). Mr. Blackstock was a U. S. BLACKSTONE, Lowell Guy, age 62 of Everett, died Aug. 10, 1978. He was born July 20, 1916 in Missouri & had come to Eastern Washington in 1927. BLAIR, Margaret Lewis, who wrote a "Shopping with Sally" column and started an interest in recipes on (sic) The Bellingham Herald from 1928 to the early 1930s, died March 22, (1978) at her Merced, Calif., home. She had last visited Bellingham when she attended the 50th reunion of her Fairhaven High class in 1974. She is survived by a sister, Marigen Atkins, of Bellingham, and a brother in Seattle.

BLAKE, George N., a lifetime resident of the community, died Wednesday, December 20, (1972). he lived at 430 16th Street. He was a retired assistant manager of Seattle First National Bank, the Bellingham branch. He was 73 years of age at the time of death and a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Bellingham Bay Masonic Lodge 44, F & AM. Surviving him are the widow, Grace; two sons, Edward, Bellingham and John, Cypress, California; a daughter Jane Bourlier, Seattle; a sister Mrs. John Williams, Bellingham; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. BLAKE, Thomas, age 82, 2413 Lynn Street, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, (1966). Mr. Blake had resided in this City the past ten years, and was a retired Barber. He was a 50 year member of Wilmington Lodge No. 208, F.&A.M., Wilmington, Ill.; Modern Woodmen of America, and the Barbers Local in Joliet, Ill. Survivors are a son, Chester, of this City; four brothers, Henry Blake, Van Nuys, Calif.; George Blake of Plainfield, Ill.; Richard and Benjamin Blake of Habenmoore, Sask. Services were conducted today, Feb. 4 by Chester Rutledge at 3:00 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. The remains will be forwarded to Aneroid, Saskatchewan for burial.

BLAKELY, David W., aged 75 years, passed away Tuesday evening in a Bellingham hospital. He had been ill for sometime and had resided in Blaine for the past 32 years. Surviving are three sons, Stewart of Blaine, Fred of Bellingham and Edward in the U. S. Navy; a daughter, Mrs. Jennie Weeman in Oregon; a brother, William in Ontario; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was raised in Blaine where he graduated from high school. He attended college in B'ham. & Ellensburg. He was married to Myrtle Martin May 29, 1939 in Everett. Mr. Blakely was employed with the Columbia Cement Co. until retiring in 1967. He had been a resident of LaConner the past 9 years. Survivors; wife Myrtle of LaConner. Step-daughter Mrs. Lorraine Wargo of Enumclaw. 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. Sister, Jennie Weeman of Mill Valley, CA. Brother, Fred Blakely of B'ham. BLAKEWAY, Hubert D., age 63, of Tillicum Beach, Camano Island, formerly of Bellingham-Ferndale area, died Tues. May 4th, (1976) while on vacation in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born July 30, 1912 in Blue Hill, Neb. And as a young boy moved with his family to Beattie & Summerfield, Kansas. Married to Vera Holloway in July of 1931. Living in Kansas & Neb. moving to Bellingham-Ferndale area in 1954. Worked for the Coast Truck Lines, which is now O.N.C., retiring in 1973. They had resided on Camano Island since 1974. Mr. Blakeway attended the United Methodist Church and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local No. 231 of Bellingham. He is survived by his wife, Vera at home, 4 sons, Max of Jessup, Iowa, Dale & Bill both US Marine Corp Base, 20 Palms, Calif., Roger of Ferndale, one daughter, Mrs. James (Beverly) Taylor of Seattle, one brother, Gordon of Marysville, Kan. One sister, Maude Koch of Lincoln, Neb., 22 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday May 14 at the Camino Lutheran Cemetery with the Rev. BLALOCK, Seth W., age 57, a resident of Ferndale for 18 years, died March 10, 1997, at his home from esophageal cancer. He was born March 5, 1940, in Greensboro, N.C. He married Carmen Lydia Cabeza on March 28, 1959, in Miami, Fla. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 19 years, and for U.S. Customs for 18 years. He is survived by his wife, Carmen, of Everson; son Wesley Blalock and wife Marie of Brewster, Wash.; granddaughter Amanda Blalock of Brewster; daughter Lydia Blalock of Olympia; sister Evangeline Parker of Florida; brother David Blalock of Florida, Paul Blalock of Colorado and Matthew Blalock of Idaho; mother-in-law Carmen Cabeza of Everson; a favorite niece, Patricia Quintana of California; and numbers other family members. BLAND, Thomas Milton, age 69 years, of 204 Flora Street, passed away at his home Thursday morning, September 18, (1947). He had resided in Bellingham for the past forty-five years and prior to his retirement he had worked as city water inspector for thirty-five years. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He is survived by three sons, Ellis, William and Clyde, all of Bellingham, and four grandchildren. BLANK, John H., age 81 years, of 1509 East Victor St., passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, Jan. 4, (1956). He was a former resident of the Lynden district. BLANKENBURG, Helen Lucille, age 33 of Everett, passed away at a local hospital, Thursday, June 9, (1955) as a result of an accident. Mrs. Blankenburg was an employee of the Everett Pulp Co. She is survived by her husband, Ernest B.; three children, Danny, Judy and Dean, all at home; three brothers and one sister, all of Everett. Arrangements are pending at the Westford Funeral Home.

BLANKENSHIP, George E. - Olympia, August 16. - Masonic funeral services were set for this afternoon for George E. Blankenship, 89, native-born Olympia pioneer, founder of the Olympia Daily Recorder, forerunner of the present Daily Olympian. He died Thursday (Nov. 1948) at Seattle at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. V. Abel, with whom he had made his home. He was born here July 17, 1858. His father, Col. George C. Blankenship, served under Territorial Governor Isaac Stevens in the early Indian Wars and was sheriff of Thurston County in territorial days. Mrs. Blankers had been a resident of Lynden since 1902 and was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church. BLANKERS, Arnold A., 67 years of age, passed away suddenly in a Bellingham hospital Tuesday afternoon, December 21, (1943). He was born December 2, 1876, in Veen, The Netherlands. The widow, Helena, survives, and also six sons, Bertis, Arnold, Robert, Gerrit, Ernest and Ceger, all of the Lynden district; two daughters, Mrs. Harry Bajema, Lynden, and Mrs. Gladys Cook, Portland; two brothers, L. Blankers, of Lynden and Ceger, of the Netherlands; three sisters, Nellie, Pternella and Marie, all of The Netherlands, and thirteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 24, at 2 p.m., in the First Christian Reformed Church of Lynden, by Rev. D. Hollebeck, under the direction of Knapp & Knapp. Interment will be in Monumenta Cemetery.

BLANKERS, Laurens, age 77 years, of Lynden, passed away suddenly at his home, Friday morning, August 30, (1946). He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna Rutgers Blankers; one daughter, Bertha Blankers, of Lynden; six sons, Gerrit, Cornelius, Laurens, Bert, Anthony and Maurice, all in Iowa; four step-children, Mrs. G. BLICK, John, age 61, of Rt. No. 3, Ferndale, passed away at his home Monday, Oct. 6, (1958) following an extended illness. He had been a resident of the Ferndale community for the past 35 years. BLIVEN, James Albert - Visitation for James "Jim" Albert Bliven of Bellingham will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Greenacres Funeral Home near Ferndale. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard Husman officiating. Burial will follow at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mr. Bliven died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at his home. He was 58. Born Feb. 9, 1941, to Kenneth and Mina (Van Etten) Bliven in Bellingham, he had been a lifetime Whatcom County resident. On Jan. 18, 1964, he married Corrine Pruno in Bellingham. Mr. Bliven worked for the Bellingham Fire Department for 22 years before retiring in 1989. Mr. Bliven was a member of Bellingham Moose Lodge No. 493. An avid gardener, he loved hunting and camping and converting buses into motor homes. His brother, Harold Bliven, preceded him in death. Born April 16, 1901 in St. Joseph's, Missouri, Mr. Bliven moved to Whatcom County from Montana in 1924. Prior to his retirement he owned and operated a barber shop in Maple Falls for many years. BLODGETT, Anton, age 84, of 1509 E. Victor, passed away at a local hospital Monday, March 26, (1951) following a short illness. Mr. Blodgett was a member of the Church of the Assumption. BLODGETT, Clifford Leroy, age 58, of 2841 McLeod Road, passed away at his home Thursday, Feb. 11, (1954). Mr. Blodgett had resided in Bellingham for the past 49 years and had served with the Bellingham Police Department for many years, as police chief and in many other capacities, currently holding the position as assistant chief of police. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, had served with the U. S. Marines during the first World War, was a member of the American Legion, Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7, the 40 et 8, the William Matthews Post No. 1535 of the V.F.W., was a graduate of the F.B.I. National Police Academy in 1943, was a member of the Northwest Check Investigators and the Washington Police Officers Association. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Nellie Blodgett at home; a son, Clayton Blodgett; a daughter, Mrs. Ermine Hendrix; three grandchildren, Sandra, Karen and Lawrie Hendrix; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Depew, all of Bellingham; and a great number of other relatives. A retired farmer, Mr. Blomquist was born in Ferndale and had been a resident of the Everson Lynden area for the past 35 years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lynden. BLOMQUIST, Peggy L., 73, of Ferndale, passed away at her home on Oct. 1, 2008. She was born in Malvern, AK, on May 26, 1935, to Burnell and Lelah Bost. She married Ray L. Blomquist on Nov. 6, 1954. Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Preceding Peggy in death were her husband, Ray; daughter, Kathryn; and grandson, Nathan. Peggy is survived by her sons, Steve and his wife Sharyl, and Tim and his wife, Darlis; grandsons, Michael, Christopher, Robert, Taylor, and Jeromy; 7 great-grandchildren; her sister, Christine Neely; brother, Glen Krewson and his wife, Rebecca; and numerous nieces and nephews. BLONDELL, Isa E., age 55 of Sultan, died Jan. 22, (1977) following a brief illness. Born June 9, 1921 in Yakima, came to the Sultan area in 1965 from Bellingham. She leaves her husband, Tors of the family home; 1 son, William of Sultan; 4 daughters, Miss Patricia Blondell of Bellingham, Helen and her husband, Ken Hayes of Monroe, Elsie and her husband, Raymond Roberts of Lynden, Mary and her husband, Gary Novak of Sultan; 7 grandchildren. BLONDEN, Laura G., age 73, of 1618 Iron Street, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, May 6, (1947). Mrs. Blonden had been a resident of this community for sixty-two years, and was a member of the Maccabees, W. C. T. U., was county superintendent of schools in Island County for two years, and taught in the city and county schools for fifteen years. She was a member of the Pioneers of Whatcom County, and the Garden Street Methodist Church. Mrs. Blonden was the widow of the late M. W. Blonden, for many years circulation manager of The Bellingham Herald. Surviving relatives are one son, Milton M., of Cashmere, and one sister, Mrs. Harry Fountain, Lynden. BLONDHEIM, Eunice, Funeral services for a longtime Ferndale resident, Eunice Blondheim, 83, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Moles Funeral Home. She died Tuesday (September 11, 1973) following an extended illness. Mrs. Blondheim formerly owned and operated a beauty shop in Ferndale. A resident since 1912, she was a member of the United Church of Ferndale, Rebekah Activity Lodge Royal Neighbors of America. BLONDHEIM, Maurice J,. age 91, 1200 Birchwood Ave., Bellingham, passed away Wed. Oct. 24, 1979. He was born Aug. 1, 1888 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. BLOOM, Melvin Sr. - Burlington - Services for Melvin Bloom, 71, a retired butcher, will be held at 11 a. m. Tuesday in the Hulbush Funeral Home here. Mr. Bloom, 405 S. Alder St., died Saturday following a heart attack on a nearby farm. he had lived in Skagit County for the past 20 years. Survivors include the widow, Marie, in Everett; four sons, Melvin Jr., of Camano Island, Vernon and Arden Bloom of Everett, and Army M./Sgt, Robert Bloom, stationed in Maryland; a brother, Arthur of Soap Lake, and three sisters, Miss Martha Bloom of Stanwood, Mrs. Hanna Bergoust of California and Mrs. Annie Nygard of North Dakota. BLOW, William Henry, age 78, formerly of Sumas passed away Friday, Oct. 15, (1976). A Whatcom County resident since 1917, Mr. Blow had owned and operated the Van Buren Store until 1953 and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted Monday, Oct. 18 at 1:30 p.m. in the Monumenta Cemetery with Rev. Earl Crouse officiating. Services are under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.

BLOXHAM, Ralph E., 1717 4th St., age 75, passed away Saturday, June 29, (1974). A 55 year resident, Mr. Bloxham was a retired millworker and was a veteran of WWII. He is survived by 5 sisters, Mrs. Marion McIvor, Mrs. Bernice Mills, Mrs. Marguerite Shaw, Mrs. June Doncaster all of this city; Mrs. Helen Dimico, St. Maries, Idaho; also several nieces and nephews. BLUGARAS, George, age 75, who resided at 807 W. Chestnut St., passed away in a local hospital on Thursday, Nov. 16, (1961) following an extended illness. Mr. Blugaras had resided in Bellingham for the past 54 years and belonged to the Greek Orthodox Church. He leaves to survive, his close friends, Mr. and Mrs. John Gimurtu of Bellingham. BLUMSEN, Ernest. Funeral services for Ernest Blumsen, 58, Bow, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hulbush Funeral Home with the Rev. Lowell Hotte officiating. Cremation will follow at Hawthorne Lawn Memorial Park. Mr. Blumsen died Saturday (Feb, 1972) as a result of a tractor accident. He moved to Skagit County in 1948 and was employed as a machine operator for Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way, Local 1423 of Everett and served in the Canadian army during World War II. BLYTHE, Stella B., age 84, 2720 Cornwall Avenue, passed away Wednesday, February 26, (1964). She was the widow of Arthur J. Blythe, who preceded her in death in 1959. Mrs. Blythe moved to Strandell in 1889, where she resided until 1904, at which time she moved to this city. Blythe, city; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Wilson, city; five grandchildren, Richard and Robert Wilson, and Judith, Kathryne and Betty Blythe, all of this city. Services will be conducted by Rev. Arthur Bezanson Friday, February 28 at 3 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home, followed by burial in Bay View Cemetery.

BLYTHE, Wesley V., age 65 years, who resided in Everson, passed away suddenly at a local hospital, Wednesday, Dec. 28, (1961). Mr. Blythe had resided in Everson for the past two years, having formerly resided in Bellingham. He was a member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints and was vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of Everson. He leaves to survive, his wife, Mrs. Olive Blythe at the family residence; two sons, Marion Harrison of Utah and Parley Harrison of Los Angeles, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Vesta Biendl and Mrs. June Filbert, both of Bellingham, Mrs. Velda Eaton of Lewiston, Mont., and Mrs. Luvirla Hurley of Raymond, Wash.; one brother, Alvin Blythe in California, and two sisters, Mrs. Mazie Bock of Sedro Woolley and Mrs. Ethel Perry in Idaho; also 21 grandchildren. Bishop Henry Linde will conduct funeral services on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 10 a. m. within the Chapel of Bingham and Jerns Funeral Home. Interment in Greenacres Memorial Park.
