KEAGLE, Edith Sparnon, age 85, of 2416 Utter St., passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, Aug. 21, (1957). Mrs. Keagle had been a 56-year resident of this community, was a member of the First Christian Church, a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member and past president of the World War I Mothers Club of the Legion. Surviving relatives are two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Gilmore and Mrs. Mabel Smethurst of Bellingham, and one son, Carroll Keagle of Boise, Idaho, also seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. KEAGLE, John Kenneth, age 46 years, of 809 Thirteenth Street, passed away suddenly at the family home Friday, April 3, (1953). Mr. Keagle had been a lifetime resident of Bellingham and was employed by the Puget Sound Power & Light Co. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 1385. Mr. Keagle is survived by his wife, Margaret B.; one step-son, Michael Edwards, at home; one brother George, of this city; and several nieces and nephews in Yakima. KEAGLE, Sarah Elizabeth, age 83, of 809 Thirteenth Street, passed away at the family home late Thursday, December 7, (1950) following a short illness. Mrs. Keagle had been a resident of Bellingham the past 51 years. She was a member of the O. E. S., Maple Leaf Chapter, the St. James Presbyterian Church and the Whatcom County Pioneer Association. Surviving relatives include two son, John K., and George W., both of Bellingham; two grandchildren, Miss Rosemary Kaylor and Richard Kaylor, both of Yakima; a sister, Mrs. Clara Mabery, of Manhattan Beach, Calif. KEAN, Anna Cline, age 67 of Ferndale passed away suddenly Sunday, March 8th (1959) at a local hospital. Mrs. Kean had been a resident of Ferndale the past 42 years. She is a member of the United Church of Ferndale, Kulshan Unit American Legion Auxiliary, Activity Rebekah Lodge, PNG Club and the Ann Washington Chapter DAR of Mount Vernon. She leaves to survive one son, Thomas Kean of Rt. 1, Blaine; 4 sisters, Mrs. Edith Sickler of Burlington; Mrs. Robert Farmer of Chula Vista, California; Mrs. Bruce Cameron and Mrs. Dick Frets, both of Mount Vernon; one brother, Mr. A. E. Doolittle of Bellingham; 3 grandchildren; numerous other relatives. The remains will lie in state until funeral services are conducted Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale with Rev. Robert Irwin officiating. Final resting place Greenacres. KEAN, Gem E., age 87, of 1801 I St., passed away in a local rest home Wednesday, Oct. 26, (1960). Mrs. Kean had been a resident of this community for the past 59 years; was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and a member of Maple Leaf Chapter No. 17, O.E.S. Surviving relatives are many nieces and nephews including Mrs. Charles Boden and Charles Hyde, both of Bellingham. The remains will lie in state at the Jones Funeral Home. KEAN, George W., age 70 years, of Ferndale, passed away suddenly at his home Friday, Feb. 6, (1959). Mr. Kean had been a resident of Ferndale for the past 42 years and was a partner-owner of Kean's Store in Ferndale. He was also employed for many years by the Carnation Co. He was a member of B.P.O.Elks Lodge No. 194. Surviving relatives include his wife Anna; one son, Tom of Rt. 1, Blaine; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Binzer of Bellingham and Mrs. Dorothy Aves of Yakima; one brother, James P. Kean of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The remains will be in state until Monday Feb 9th when services will be conducted at 1:30 P. KEARNEY, Michael, age 61 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Mary Kearney, 2324 Cornwall, passed away at a hospital in Seattle, Sunday, February 24, (1946) following a lingering illness. Mr. Kearney had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 20 years and was a member of the Church of the Assumption. Mr. Kearney had been a resident of this community for the past three years and was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans. KEEL, Thomas H., age 77, of Doe Bay passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, October 16, (1946). Mr. Keel had been a resident of that community for the past 32 years and leaves to survive the widow, Norma M.; two sons, John and William, all at home, and three half sisters in Michigan. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth and will be forwarded to Allegan, Michigan, for services and interment.

KELLAR, Gilbert Jacob, who until two years ago was a painter and decorator, died Friday afternoon (June 16, 1933) at his home, 1602 Twelfth street, aged 69 years. He had lived here twenty-seven years. Mr. Kellar is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hattie L. Kellar; one son, Harold R. Kellar, Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Nina Floyd, Battleground, Wash., and two sisters, Mrs. Mercy Bearup and Mrs. Nettie Larson, New York state. Rev. James M. KEELER, Amelia M., age 78, of Route No. 5, Bellingham, passed away in a local hospital, Monday, December 5, (1949). KEELER, Carrie, age 73 years, a resident of Route 1, Ferndale for the past nine years, passed away at her home, Tuesday, August 28, (1945). KEELER, Lester M., 1900 Spokane St. died Thursday, February 1, (1973). He was a lifetime resident of the area and was 74 years old at the time of his death. He was a retired rancher. KEHL, Katherine, age 76, of Yakima, passed away Wed. (March 1, 1978) in a Yakima hospital. She was born in Russia & came to the U.S. in about 1912. She lived in Yakima & married Christ Kehl in 1918 in Yakima. They lived in B'ham for approx. 15 yrs & returned to Yakima in 1961. Survivors: 2 sons; Ted Kehl of B'ham & Ed Kehl of Yakima; 2 daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Rosie) Bales & Mrs. Melbert (Alice) Vetter of Yakima. 1 brother, Alex Kehl of Yakima; 3 sisters; Mrs. Paul Dalloff & Mrs. Joseph Bachmann both of Yakima & Mrs. Gene McCreery of Calif. 7 grandchildren & 1 great grandchild. Shuksan American Legion Post No. 224 of Deming. Surviving are his wife A. Marie; 1 daughter, Audrey Leblanc of North Vancouver, B. KEHRER, Johanna, age 85, formerly of 3228 39th Ave. S. W., Seattle, passed away in the Icelandic Rest Home in Blaine, Thurs. July 27, 1978. A former pioneer of the Blaine area, she had made her home in Seattle from 1916 to 1974. Surviving are 1 son, Ernest M. Kehrer of Seattle. KEIL, Frank H. age 84, of 1311 State St., passed away at a local hospital Saturday, Feb. 27, (1954). Mr. Keil had resided in Bellingham for the past 55 years, was a retired sign painter and had attended the Presbyterian Church. KEIL, Jeffrey Bartholomew, age 30, of 250 West Kline Rd., passed away Wed., Dec. 8, (1976). Mr. Keil was a construction worker and resided in this community for 2 years. Mr. Keith had resided in this community for the past four months and was an electrician at the Bellingham Shipyards. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Coupeville and member of Alki Lodge No. 152, F. & A. M. in Seattle. Surviving relatives include the widow, Mrs. May Keith at the family home; one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Hougan of Tacoma; three brothers, Charlie N. and Clarence B. Keith, both of Everett and Samuel E. Keith of Seattle; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Austin of Coupeville and Mrs. Dorothy Erickson of Holden, Wash. The remains were forwarded to Seattle by Harlow-Hollingsworth where Masonic services will be conducted in the West Home Chapel Wednesday, November 18, at 3 p. m. Cremation.

KEITH, Jeannie. Funeral services were conducted Dec. 23, (1971) in Moles Funeral Chapel for Jeannie Keith. She was 89 at the time of her death which occurred on Wednesday morning. The service was conducted by Rev. Elmer Erickson. Mrs. Keith was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and had resided in Whatcom County the past 55 years, first living in the Pleasant Valley district where her husband, the late N. C. Keith operated the Pleasant Valley Store. They soon moved to Ferndale, her husband continuing in the grocery store business. She was a member of the United Church of Ferndale, Ferndale Chapter OES, Past Matrons Club, Chapter BQ, PEO, and the DUPI Garden Club. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Higley and Mrs. Margaret Brunner, both of Ferndale; sister, Mrs. Margaret Manley of Aberdeen, Scotland; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

KEITH, Lois H., of 445 So. State St., passed away Sun. Jan. 21, 1979, in Bellingham. A 40 year resident of this city, she was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Aftermath Club, the Bellingham Yacht Club and Bellingham Golf & Country Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Glen W. Keith and is survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. Sandra K. Flaherty and her husband, Robert, of Port Townsend, Wash., 2 granddaughters, Mrs. Kathryn Streaker of Edmonds, and Lisa Flaherty of Port Townsend, and a close friend, Mr. C. S. "Mike" Gorie of City. KEITHLINE, Stanley, age 73 years, who resided at 1337 Pacific Highway, passed away at his home Thursday, August 14th, (1952) after an illness of two months. He had resided in Bellingham for the past 49 years. Mr. Keithline is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nettie Keithline; one daughter, Mrs. Fern Marsh, of Blanchard, Wash.; also two nieces and one nephew of Pennsylvania. KELLAR, Harold Reid, age 62, passed away at the family home at 2717 Sunset Drive, Thursday, January 15, (1953). Mr. Kellar had resided in this community for the past 46 years, and was a machinist for the Bellingham Chain and Forge Co. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and the Fairhaven Lodge No. 73, F. & A. M. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Edna Kellar, at the family home; a step-son, Richard E. KELLER, Albert, age 83, passed away at his home at 814 E. Maryland Street, Tuesday, November 20, (1951). Mr. Keller had resided in this community for the past 50 years and was a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of the Whatcom County Dairymen's Association. He leaves to survive one sister, Marie Keller, of Zurich, Switzerland, and many nephews and nieces including Albert Keller, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Rudolph Davaiz, of Antioch, Calif. KELLER, Dick, age 87 years, who resided at 2720 McLeod Road, passed away at his residence Friday, Nov. 8, (1957) following a lingering illness. Mr. Keller had been a resident of Bellingham for many years and leaves to survive no known relatives. Rev. Myron Hilty, pastor of the Light House Mission will officiate at funeral services on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 1 p. m. in the Chapel of the Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home. KELLER, George, age 78, a resident of Ferndale for the past 30 years, passed away in St. Paul, Minn., Thursday, July 13, (1961). Survivors include one son, Jack Keller of Long Beach, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Beulah Jennings of Mount Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. Lulu Goodell and Mrs. Bertha Roberts, both of Bellingham, and Mrs. Alta Ham of Hepper, Kan.; two grand-children and three great-grandchildren. KELLER, Herman August, age 82 years, of Route 1, Lynden, passed away in a local hospital, Monday, Dec. 30, (1957) following a lingering illness. He had been a resident of the Lynden area for the past 45 years. Survivors include three sons, Harold of Olympia, Ralph of Puyallup, Clifford of Wenatchee; two daughters, Mabel Keller and Mrs. Edith Myles, both of Ferndale; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson. KELLER, Jake E., age 78, of 1744 Kellogg Rd., passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Oct. 23, (1954). Mr. Keller had resided in this community for the past 48 years and was a retired cook. Surviving, other than one brother and one sister in Arkansas, is one grand-niece, Mrs. Jack Towell of Bellingham. KELLER, Mary T., age 85, resided at 2419 D St., passed away Feb. 15, (1977) in a local hospital. She was a retired sales clerk at Fountain Drug for many years. She is survived by 1 son, Harold Woodruff of Craig, Colo.; 1 daughter, Mrs, Helen Woodruff of Bellingham and 1 brother, Albert Tauscher of Portland, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. KELLER, Violet L., age 75, a Clear Lake resident died at home last Friday (Dec., 1976). She was born in England, March 24, 1901, came to the United states at the age of 4 and had been a Sedro Woolley resident for the past 30 years. Survived by one son, Charles Coultas of Sedro Woolley, 3 daughters, Lillie Skiles, Alta Hickman and Violet Moran all of Sedro Woolley, 10 grandchildren. KELLER, William Sr., age 78, of 1819 Franklin Street, passed away at a local hospital, Monday, January 22, (1951) following an extended illness. Mr. Keller had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 36 years and was a retired railroad laborer; he was of the Lutheran faith. KELLEY, Charles Dewey, 57, of 1611 So. M St., Tacoma, passed away in that city Sunday, March 24, (1957). Mr. Kelley formerly lived in Bellingham and had resided in Tacoma for the past 12 years. He was a conductor and brakeman for the Northern Pacific Railroad and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Surviving relatives include his widow, Norma H. at home; one brother, D. W. KELLEY, Ira Oliver, age 83, 642 12th Ave., Kirkland, passed away at the home of his daughter in Kirkland Wednesday, November 13, (1963). Mr. Kelley was a fifteen year resident of this city before moving to Kirkland in May of this year. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the North Bellingham Grange. KELLEY, Walter F.[L.], Chilliwack, B. C., formerly of Lynden, died Tuesday, December 12, (1972). He was 77 years of age at the time of death. Mr. Kelley was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the American Legion, the Sumas Last Man's Club, Sumas Valley Grange, and Clearbrook Lutheran Church. His survivors include a son, Clifford, Nampa, Idaho; a brother, Tom Kelley, Sacramento, California; and five grandchildren.

KELLEY, William John, age 71, of Clearbrook, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, June 17, (1954) following a short illness. Mr. Kelley had resided in that district his entire lifetime. He was a member of the Sumas Valley Grange, Clam Diggers' Association. He is survived by three brothers, Thomas R., Walter L., and Clifford; several nieces and nephews. KELLN, Solomon H., age 54, of Rt. 1, Everson, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, (1956) at his home following an extended illness. KELLNER, Catherine Caroline, age 83, of 1708 Washington St., passed away in a local hospital, Thursday, Nov. 2, (1961). A life resident of Bellingham, Miss Kellner was a retired housekeeper. KELLNER, John Edward "Jack" age 55 years, of Route 1, Ferndale, passed away February 6, (1947) Thursday at the home of a brother, Henry Kellner, of Route 1, Ferndale. KELLOGG, Adna R., age 79, passed away at the family home, 417 Garden St., Tuesday, June 27, (1961). Mr. Kellogg had resided in this community since 1913; was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church; a member and Past Matron of Sehome Chapter No. 17, O.E.S.; Past Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of O.E.S.; a member of Zenobia Club, Daughters of the Nile; a member of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, and a member of the Daughters of the Pioneers. Surviving relatives are her husband, Judge John A. Kellogg at home; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Kelley, presently of Stanford, Mont.; two sisters, Mrs. Lester Hurst of Pendleton, Ore., and Mrs. H. KELLOGG, Judge John A., age 90, formerly of 417 Garden St., passed away in a local hospital, Thursday, April 12, (1962). A life resident of this community, Judge Kellogg had been a practicing attorney for over 60 years; had served as mayor of Bellingham for 10 years; had served as the first attorney for the Port Commission and had been very active in the Republican party. Judge Kellogg was a member of the St. James Presbyterian Church; a charter member of the Hobby Club; a member of the Round Table Club, B.P.W. Elks No. 194, and the Modern Woodmen of America. Surviving relatives are his daughter, Mrs. B. Lambert Smith of Mount Vernon; son, John Albert Kellogg of New York; two grandchildren, Craig Kellogg Smith of Bellingham, attending W.W.S.C. and Miss Martha Kellogg Smith of Mount Vernon. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Dr. Glenn C. Carlson, Monday, April 16, at 3 p.m. Cremation.

KELLOGG, John Albert, 73, a former Bellingham resident, died Sunday (Feb. 13, 1983) in Pleasant Hill, Calif., following a short illness. He was born Oct. 20, 1909, in Bellingham. He was the son of the late John A. Kellogg, an attorney who was mayor of Bellingham in the 1930's and '40s. He was the valedictorian of his graduating class at Whatcom High School. He graduated from University of Washington in 1931. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta. Survivors include a sister, Katherine Smith, of Mount Vernon, a niece, a nephew and other relatives. Cremation was held in California. Inurnment will be in the Kellogg family plot at Bayview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kern Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.

KELLY, Alva Fay, age 75 of Rt. 1, Lynden passed away in a local hospital, Friday, June 23, (1961) following a brief illness. Mr. Kelly had been a resident of Lynden since 1904 and was one of the first drivers for the Lynden Transfer. He later farmed in the Lynden area until retiring in 1950. Surviving are his wife, Clara; 2 brothers, Clyde Kelly of Palo Alto, California, and Claude Briden of Waverly, Iowa; and 1 sister, Mrs. Nina Growe of Waverly, Iowa. Funeral services will be held in the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, Tuesday, June 27, at 2 p. m. with the Rev. James Updike officiating. Burial will follow in the Lynden Cemetery.

KELLY, Ethel L., age 73, 305 Cedar Ave., Sedona, Ariz., passed away in Cottonwood, Ariz., Sept. 24, 1979. She was previously of Bellingham. Survived by 1 son, Sam Kelly of Bellingham; 1 daughter, Mrs. Mary Gray, Sylvania, Ohio; a sister, Alice Newland, Mill Valley, Calif. KELLY, Gary Lee, age 38, of 1278 Loni Lane, Ferndale. Passed away Friday April 29, (1977). He was a veteran of WWII serving in both the US Army & US Navy. Member of the Kiwanis & the Snoopy Flyers Club. Survived by his wife, Mrs. Catherine Kelly, 2 sons, Jeffery & David all of the home. KELLY, George, age 76, of 131 Franklin St., passed away in a local hospital, Sunday, March 8, (1959). Mr. Kelly had resided in this community for the past 20 years and was a retired logger. KELLY, Helen P., 89, 1224 Cornwall Ave., died Friday (Oct. 2, 1981) in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 6, 1891, in Bellingham. She was a life member of Assumption Catholic Parish, a member of Women of Assumption, Legion of Mary, D.A.R., Bellingham Women's Music Club, Aftermath Club, Retired Teacher's Association and Mother of Evangelistic Auxiliary of St. Joseph Hospital. She is survived by a nephew, Samuel Kelly of Bellingham, and a niece, Mary Kelly Gray of Ohio. Christian Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Veroske, Jerns and LeVeck Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Bayview Cemetery.

KELLY, Katherine E., age 85, passed away at Retsil, Monday, March 24, (1958). Mrs. Kelly had resided with her daughter, Mrs. Viola M. Brown of Suquamish for the past five years, and from 1908 to 1953 had resided in Acme. Deceased was a member of the Methodist Church at Seabold, Bainbridge Island, and leaves to survive, other than Mrs. Brown, another daughter, Mrs.Lois L. Kenney of Sedro Woolley; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles W. Neff of Sedro Woolley and one sister, Mrs. Mary Young of Olympia. KELLY, Lola Lee, age 55, of 1509 E. Victor Street, passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, March 10, (1953). KELLY, Mary Elizabeth, age 74 of Rt. 1, Everson, passed away Saturday, April 7, (1956) in a local hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Kelly had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 36 years, living most of the time in the Mt. View community. She was a member of the United Church in Ferndale. KELLY, Matt, age 61, of 2230 Queen Street, passed away at a local hospital Friday, February 29 [26?], (1954) following a short illness. KELLY, Raymond. Requiem mass was offered Tuesday morning in St. Joseph's Catholic by Rev. John O'Sullivan for Raymond Kelly, 62 who died Friday (May 7, 1971) following a lingering illness. He resided at 583 Ferndale Terrace. Mr. Kelly was a retired employee of the Mobil Refinery and had been a resident of Ferndale since 1954. He was a navy veteran of WWII, a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Faithful Navigator in Knights of Columbus, and past Commander of Kulshan Post of the American Legion. Surviving are his widow Alice, one son, Joe of Ferndale, and one grandson, Kevin Kelly. Prayer services and visitation were at Moles Funeral Chapel.

KELLY, Robert J. "Bob", age 46 years, of Deming, passed away suddenly Sunday, June 15, (1952). Mr. Kelly had been a life resident of Whatcom County and operated his own logging camp. KELLY, Rosa Ellen, age 89 years, who resided at 310 N. Commercial, passed away at the family residence on Tuesday, Feb. 17, (1959) following an extended illness. Mrs. Kelly was a pioneer of the State of Washington, having resided in Fairhaven since 1889, before the state was admitted. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption, also a member of the Legion of Mary, the Third Order of St. Francis, the Altar Society, past president of the Aftermath Club, past president of the Woman's Catholic Order of Foresters, past president of the Bellingham Women's Music Club and also a member of the Library Board for many years. She leaves to survive her daughter, Miss Helen P. Kelly, one grandson, Samuel Patrick Kelly, both residing in Bellingham; her granddaughter, Mary Sharon Kelly of Denver, Colo., and two great-granddaughters, Ann Elaine and Susan Jeanne Kelly. Rosary will be recited in the Chapel of Bingham and Jerns Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7 p. m. KELLY, Thomas J., age 80, a long-time resident of Bellingham and employee of the YMCA passed away Wednesday, April 1, (1964) at his home in Valleyford, Spokane County. KEMPHAUS, Joseph, age 78 years, of 207 South Garden, passed away Saturday, April 26, (1952) in a local hospital following a lingering illness. Mr. Kemphaus was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, also a Charter member of the Knights of Columbus. He had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 55 years and married in 1905 to Mary Mallahan. He entered into business, Kemphaus and Company, in 1911. Mr. Kemphaus is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Joseph and Jack Kemphaus, both of Bellingham; and three grandsons, Danny, John and Joseph Kemphaus, all of Bellingham. KENCHTEL, Agnes, age 77 years, of Blaine, passed away at a local hospital Saturday, December 1, (1951) following a lingering illness. KENDALL, Addison A., age 71, of 903 Key St., passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, April 14, (1959). Mr. Kendall had resided in Bellingham for the past 27 years and was a retired planning mill foreman for Bloedel Dovovan, Larson and Columbia Valley Mills. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Mattie L. Kendall of the family one; one daughter, Mrs. Joyce Oiness of this city; five sons, Allan of Bremerton, Clifford of Minam, Ore., Clyde of Royal City, Wash., Maynard of this city, Captain Robert Kendall of the U. S. Air Force, Dayton, Ohio; 18 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Kendall of Marysville, and George Kendall of Wichita, Kan.; numerous nieces and nephews. KENDALL, Clinton E., age 72, of 2201 King St., passed away at home Sunday, June 1, (1958). Mr. Kendall was a retired farmer; had resided in Whatcom County for the past 33 years; was a member of the Welcome Grange and the Methodist Church. Survivors are his widow, Sylvia, at home; two sons, Roy C., of Everson and Harry F., of Spokane; one daughter, Mrs. Violet L. KENDALL, Roy Hobson, age 65, 2631 Utter Street, passed away in Mesa, Arizona Friday, November 15, (1963). Mr. Kendall was a fifty year resident of this City, where he was a Supervisor for Permanente Cement Co. for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member and Elder of the First Christian Church. Survivors are his widow, Jewell B.; one son, George L. KENDALL, Viola R., age 74, of Maple Falls, passed away in a Ferndale rest home Tuesday, July 24, (1962) following an extended illness. A native of Kansas, she had moved to the Maple Falls area in 1935. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Bellingham. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Glenn Traylor of Sumas, Mrs. Monroe Johnson of Bellingham; three brothers, Roy Brown of Seattle, Charles Brown of Bellingham and Gordon Brown of Hemet, Calif., also five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. KENEALY, Harold R., age 80, resident of 516 N. 1st St. Mt. Vernon passed away Tues., Nov. 13, 1979 at the Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood. He was born at Nova Scotia, Oct. 12, 1899. He was married to Daphe I Mitchell in Mt. Vernon, Jan. 29, 1927. She preceded him in death, August 3rd, 1978. He was involved in farming in Mt. Vernon for many years, where he was a grower of flower bulbs. Very active and dedicated member of the Mt. Vernon I.O.O.F. Lodge, where he held many offices and was awarded the Meritious Jewel from the Grand Lodge. He served as past Grand Master for the State of Washington. Survivors are 2 daughters: Daphe Jo "Jody" Sanders of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Crystal Lehman of Bellingham. 1 sister Mrs. Marion Nelson of Mt. Vernon, 1 brother, Edward of Sun City, Calif. 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. 1 brother preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at the Kern Funeral Chapel, Sat. KENISTON, Glenn W., age 68, of 208 W. Illinois St., passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, July 11, (1961). Mr. Keniston had recently been associated with the County Assessor's Office as a draftsman, and for many years had previously been with Columbia Valley. He was a past master of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44, F.&A.M.; a member of the Scottish and York Rite Bodies; was past district deputy to the Grand Masonic Lodge of the State of Washington; was grand representative to Arkansas of State Grand Masonic Lodge; past worthy patron of Sehome Chap. No. 17, O.E.S.; past royal patron of Bellingham Court No. 25, Amaranth; a member of the White Shrine and held honorary memberships in many of the Courts of Amaranth in British Columbia which he helped organize. Surviving relatives are his widow, Minnie, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Harry Adkins and two granddaughters, all of Bellingham. KENNA, James G., age 83, former resident of Park in Whatcom Co. passed away Sat. Oct. 1, (1977) in a Sedro Woolley Nursing Home. He was born July 12, 1894 in Deer River, Minnesota & came to Washington in 1900. He presently made his home at Blanchard. Mr. Kenna was an Army Veteran of WWI serving in France & had been a military chauffeur for Gen. John Pershing. He was a retired commercial fisherman. He had never married. KENNEDY, Hiram Nash, age 79 years, of Route 3, Bellingham, lost his life at his home on the Sand Road, early Wednesday (April 15, 1953) morning. He had been a resident there for the past 25 years and a resident of the County for the past 55 years. Mr. Kennedy was a retired employee of the Street and Park Department of the City of Bellingham. Mr. Kenney, a retired farmer, farmed for a number of years in the Pleasant Valley and Birch Bay areas before moving to North Bend in 1934. He also ran a small blacksmith shop on his farm while living here. Survivors include his wife, Mary and a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Kagey.

KENNEY, Chester B., age 79, who resided at 1325 Indian St., passed away at the family residence on Monday, January 5, (1959) following an extended illness. Mr. Kenney had resided in Bellingham for the past 35 years and was a member of the Pacific Lumber Inspection Bureau. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Anna Kenney at the family home, his foster daughter, Mrs. Lois Ashley of Perris, California, 2 sisters, Mrs. George H. Watson and Miss May Kenney of Tucson, Arizona. Private services will be conducted friday, January 9 at 1 o'clock in the Chapel of the Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde W. Johnson, pastor of the Church of the Open Bible officiating, followed by interment in Greenacres Memorial Park.

KENNEY, Clarence Edwin, age 73, passed away at 1817 Knox St., Saturday, Aug. 2, (1958). Mr. Kenney had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 54 years and was a retired logger. Surviving relatives are five daughters, Mrs. Mabel Morrow of Lakewood, Calif.; Mrs. Alice Green in Michigan, Mrs. Doris Jacot of Granite Falls, Wn.; Mrs. Senora Clark of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Sorena Clouthier of Aberdeen, Wn.; four sons, Elroy of Bellingham; David of Aberdeen; Mike in Michigan, and Jack in Spokane; also many grandchildren. KENNEY, Elroy "Dutch" J., age 70, of 2622 Xenia St., passed away Fri. June 9, 1978. Mr. Kenney had resided in this community most of his life, was a retired logger & mill worker & a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. KENNEY, George C., age 86, of Sumas, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, October 19, (1948). He had been a resident of the Sumas district for 39 years. Surviving relatives include his wife, Ida; one son, L. V. Kenney, of Sedro-Woolley; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. KENNEY, Ida M., age 85, of Sumas, passed away in a local hospital, Monday, July 9, (1956) following a short illness. She had resided in Sumas for the past 46 years. KENNEY, James Roy, age 42, passed away suddenly at his home at Maple falls, Monday, Oct. 3, (1960). Mr. Kenney had been a life resident of this community; was a veteran of World War II, and a member of Shuksan Post, American Legion at Deming, and also was a member of Bellingham Lodge No. 194, B.P.O. Elks. For many years Mr. Kenney had operated Frosty's Inn at Maple Falls and had also been a log scaler. Surviving relatives are his widow, Helen A. at home; two brothers, Rev. Robert A. KENNY, Ann Clausen, age 86, passed away in California March 2, 1981. She was a former resident of Bellingham; was a member of the Presbyterian Church; had worked at St. Luke's Hospital; various restaurants in Bellingham; was a member of the Welcome Valley Senior Center. KENOYER, Archie, age 82, long time Whatcom County resident, died Dec. 21, (1976) at Lyman, Wash. He was the son of pioneer Whatcom County residents, homesteaded near the Wiser Lake area and operated saw mills in that area. Survived by his wife, Gertrude, Lyman; a daughter, Rolande Kenoyer, Lyman; 2 sisters, Annie Kildall, Portland, Nettie Scrimsher, Bellingham; brother, Fred, Bellingham. KENOYER, Cecil H., age 64 of 2809 Alderwood, passed away Feb. 11, (1976). He had been a lifetime resident of this community and was a retired logger. KENOYER, Clarence Edward, age 70, formerly of 2314 Lindsay, passed away in a local hospital, Thursday, May 14, (1959). KENOYER, Edward Dwayne, age 56, 218 Ten Mile Road, Lynden, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, (1966). Mr. Kenoyer was a lifetime resident of this community, and was an employee of the Washington State Department of Agriculture. Survivors are his widow Grace K.; a son Donald, of this City; a daughter Mrs. Addison Johnson of Lansing, Mich.; six grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Frank Leyendecker of Forks, Wn. KENOYER, Emory E., 1509 E. Victor St., age 84, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, (1966). A sixty-year resident of this community, Mr. Kenoyer was a retired truck driver. Survivors are two sons, Earl and Richard, both of this City; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Schrimsher, City; Mrs. Anna Kildall, Portland, Ore.; four brothers, Fred, James, Reuben and Archie, all residing in this City, and many nieces and nephews. KENOYER, Fred, age 101 years, of 614 Maple Street, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Sept. 6, (1952). Mr. Kenoyer had resided in this community for the past 64 years and was a retired sawmill operator. KENRUD, Lois C. Funeral services for Mrs. Lois C. Kenrud, 45, former Bellingham resident, will be conducted Saturday noon at Home Funeral Home in Seattle. KENT, William Earl, age 67, of Venice, Calif., passed away at a local hospital Thursday, September 11, (1952). Mr. Kent had made his home here for the past summer with his daughter, Mrs. Florence Chastain, of Bailen. Other survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Doris Hull, of Bellflower, Calif.; one son, Ronald, of Inglewood, Calif., and six grandchildren. A retired carpenter, Mr. Kentch had been a Whatcom County resident for 51 years, a member of Advent Christian Church and Carpenters Union Local No. 756. KENYON, Jennie, of Sumas, passed away in a local hospital, Saturday, November 1, (1947) at the age of 79 years. She had been a resident of the Sumas district for the past forty-three years. KEOGH, Mary M., age 67 years, 314 1/2 West Holly, passed away at a local hospital Thursday, August 12, (1948) after a lingering illness. Mrs. Keogh had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 28 years and was a member of the Church of the Assumption, also the Loyal Order of Moose. Surviving relatives include on daughter, Mrs. Russell Kuhl, Bellingham; one sister, Mrs. Kate Murphy, Los Angeles; three grandchildren and numerous other relatives. KEOUGH, Helen "Ella" age 73, of 611 Ferndale Terrace, Ferndale, passed away Thurs., Jan. 5, (1978). Mrs. Keough came to Ferndale in 1954 from Olean, New York and is a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Ferndale and the St. Joseph's Guild. She is survived by her husband, James T. of Ferndale; a son, Jim of Lynden; 2 daughters, Eileen Shaw of Westland, Mich. and Madelyn Waslohn of Ferndale; 3 brothers, Tom, Robert and Jack Lyons all of Olean, New York; 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. KEPLINGER, Clarence C., age 74, of 2141 Franklin Street, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, March 16, (1952). Mr. Keplinger had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 47 years and had been employed as a motion picture operator at the Grand Theater. He was a member of the Motion Picture Operator's Union, Local No. 117 and a member of the Maccabee's. KEPLINGER, Ernest W., age 56, of 2131 Franklin St., passed away at a local hospital Wednesday, May 11, (1960). Mr. Keplinger had resided in Bellingham for the past 50 years; was a retired teacher in the Bellingham school system; was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 194. KEPLINGER, Lawrence M., age 48, of 357 South Forest Street, passed away at the Whatcom County Court House Monday, May 10, (1948). Mr. Keplinger had resided in this community for the past forty-three years and was an attorney at law. And from 1931 through 1934 had served as county prosecuting attorney. Deceased was a member of the Washington State Bar Association, Whatcom County Bar Association, Bellingham Lodge No. 194, B. P. O. Elks, American Legion Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7, a past master of Whatcom Lodge No. 151, F. & A. M. and a past worthy president of the F. O. Eagles No. 31. Surviving relatives are the widow, Vivian P., at home; one son, Keith, of this city; two daughters, Carol Ann and Gay, at Olympia; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence C. Keplinger; brother, Ernest W., and sister, Mrs. Lucille Francisco, all of Bellingham. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth.

KEPPLE, Lola B. Funeral services for Lola B. Kepple, 81, Glacier Star Route, will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Nooksack Valley Baptist Church. She died Thursday (Dec. 9, 1971). KEPPLER, Marie R., San Diego, Cal., passed away in that city Thursday, Dec. 6, (1962). Mrs. Keppler had resided in this community 13 years prior to moving to San Diego in 1949, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Adrian M. Shuler, San Diego, Mrs. Marie Lawrence, Spokane; one son, Leonard J. Keppler, Seattle, and three grandchildren. KERLEE, William A., age 64 years, of Sumas, passed away Sunday, June 10, (1945) after a lingering illness. Mr. Kerlee had lived in the Sumas district for the past 13 years, coming here from Montana. KERLEY, Mary Ann, age 92, of 1109 Cowgill St., passed away in a local hospital Thursday, Feb. 16, (1961). Widow of the late Samuel C. Kerley, she was a resident of this city for the past 40 years; was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Survivors are five sons, Bert and George, both in California, Charles of Vancouver, B. C., Tim of Bellingham and Fred of Portland, Ore.; three daughters, Mrs. Agnes George of Victoria, V. I., Mrs. Evelyn Zuanich and Mrs. Alice Brighton, both of Bellingham; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren. KERLEY, Samuel Charles, age 89, of 306 Potter St. passed away in a local hospital Thursday, Sept. 13, (1956). Mr. Kerley had resided in this community for the past 33 years and was a retired carpenter. Deceased was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and leaves to survive five sons, Tim of Bellingham, Albert of Long Beach, Calif., Charles of Vancouver, B. C., Fred of Portland, Ore. and George of Bremerton, Wn.; three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Zuanich and Mrs. Alice Brighton both of Bellingham and Mrs. Agnes George of Victoria, B. C.; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. The remains rest at Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where Private services will be conducted by Rev. Fr. W. Robert Webb Monday, Sept. 17, at 10:30 a. m. Cremation. Contributions many be sent to the Cancer Fund.

KERMEEN [KERMEN], Edward Sr., age 85, passed away in Yakima (Feb. 1960). Born in England he had lived in Blaine for 41 years before moving to Yakima in 1947. Survived by six nephews, Edward Kermeen of Yakima, Clarence Kermeen of Cle Elum, Henry Kermeen of Bellingham, Dr. W. R. Kermeen of Chico, Calif., Mr. Leo Dwyer of Chicago; one niece, Mrs. Minnie Lewis of Chicago. KERMEN, Gladys M., age 80 of 2825 Russell St., died Fri. Nov. 30, 1979. A resident of Whatcom & Skagit counties for the past 58 years, she is survived by 2 sons, Gerald H. of Mt. Vernon and Charlie of Bellingham; 1 daughter, Mrs. Elaine Pinney, City; preceded in death by her husband Henry O. KERMEN, Henry Otto, age 65, Rt. No. 5, Bellingham, passed away Monday, November 23, (1964). A forty-one year resident of this community, Mr. Kermen was a heavy equipment operator for the State Highway Department before retiring. Survivors are his widow, Gladys M., at home; one daughter, Mrs. Elaine Pinney, city; two sons, Gerald H., Burlington, and Charles F., city; four grandchildren; three brothers, Fred and Clarence E. Kermen, both of Cle Elum, and Dr. William R. Kermen of Chico, Calif. Services will be conducted by Rev. Don McVickers Friday, November 27 at 3:30 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. KERN, Al Carroll, age 56, of Route 2 Ferndale, passed away suddenly at his home, Sunday, August 18, (1963). Mr. Kern had been a resident of the Ferndale community for the past 17 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union. Survivied by his wife, Edna, 1 daughter, Mrs. Carole Aregger of Hayward, Calif., 1 son, Rod of Ferndale, 1 sister, Mrs. Grant Barnett of Lakeland, Florida, his step-mother, Mrs. Lela Kern of Fairfield, Illinois, 2 grandchildren. KERN, Burgess C., age 52 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Goldie M. Kern, 3208 Fifteenth Avenue South, Seattle 44, Wash., passed away as the result of an accident Monday, September 3, (1945). Mr. Kern was previously a resident of Bellingham and was a veteran of World War I, also a member of the International Association of Machinist's Union No. 289, of Seattle, and the Veteran of Foreign Wars. Surviving relatives, aside from Mrs. Kern, include one daughter, Mrs. Irene Erickson, this city; three grandchildren; also one sister and one brother, Mrs. Margaret Purgan, of Port Townsend, Wash., and Mr. Kern, of Los Angeles, Calif. The remains are resting at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, September 8 at 3:30 o'clock, with Rev. James M. Wilson officiating. KERN, Frank, age 61 years, passed away at Seattle Thursday, February 18, (1943). Mr. Kern had been a resident of this city the past fifteen years and at the time of his passing was employed at the Frye & Company meat packing plant at Seattle. Deceased was a member of Fairhaven Lodge No. 73, F. & A. M., Bellingham, and the Butchers Union Local 186 at Seattle. Surviving relatives are the widow, Olympia F. and two children, Minerva and Carl at home, 2700 Park Drive this city. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where memorial services will be conducted Tuesday, February 23, at 10:30 a. m. by Rev. R. KERN, Olympia Frances, age 65 2700 Sunset Drive, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, March 16, (1963). Mrs. Kern was a thirty-five year resident of Bellingham; attended the Congregational Church; was a member of Maple Leaf Chapter No. 58, O. E. S. and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. KERN, Robertie, age 87 years, beloved wife of Mr. Smith G. Kern, 2118 D Street, passed away at a local hospital, Wednesday, Jan. 2, (1946) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Kern had been a resident of Bellingham for the past fifty-six years and was a member of the First Congregational church. Surviving relatives, include beside her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Johnson and Mrs. Florence Rives, both of Bellingham; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, Friday, Jan. 4, at 2 p. m., conducted by Rev. W. Carl Calhoun. Interment in Bay View Cemetery.

KERN, Rodney Wayne, 27, of 2832 Broadway, Bellingham, passed away Monday, May 24, (1971). Mr. Kern had been a resident of Whatcom County his entire lifetime and was a Korean and Vietnam army veteran, a graduate of Ferndale High School, member of the Iron Workers Local No. 505 and a son of the late Carrol Kern. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Edna Polk, his step father Z.C. Polk both of Bellingham; one sister, Mrs. Carole Aregger and brother-in-law, Jack Aregger, both of Ferndale; niece and two nephews. Funeral services will be conducted in Moles Funeral Chapel Thursday, May 27 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Vincent Crane officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation may be made at Moles Funeral Home Wednesday evening 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Rodney Kern, 27, an ironworker apprentice at Parsons Construction Co., died Monday evening from injuries he received in a fall at the Atlantic Richfield refinery site earlier in the afternoon. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital by Parsons' ambulance about 3 p.m., and died following surgery. A Parsons spokesman reported he had been cutting lines of a third-level stair tread, about 24 feet high. He fell to the second level and bounced, falling onto an uncapped handrail upright, which pierced his abdomen. His is the second death on the ARCO construction site. Last year an employee of Chicago Bridge & Iron died in an accident.

KERN, Smith G., age 96, of 2118 D Street, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, June 23, (1949) following a lingering illness. Mr. Kern had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 56 years. Surviving relatives include two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Johnson and Mrs. Florence Rives, both of Bellingham; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The remains rest at the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 25 at 2 p. m. with the Rev. W. Carl Calhoun officiating. KERNAN, John Joseph, age 73 years of 1311 Garden Street, passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, August 11, (1953) following a lingering illness. He had been a resident of this community for the past 10 years and was a member of the Church of Assumption. Surviving relatives include his wife, Elizabeth and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Oliver at home. Rosary will be said Thursday, August 13, at 7:30 p. m. in the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Beck Funeral Home. Requiem mass will be read Friday, August 14, at 9:30 a. m. within the Church of the Assumption with Rev. Father Bernard V. Cremer officiating. Interment Greenacres.

KERNICH, Hildegund, age 39, of Munich, West Germany passed away Sun. Aug. 26, (1978) while visiting. Miss Kernich was a technical assistant with an optical firm. She leaves to survive a sister, Mrs. Friedel Votava of Kirkland. Also, an aunt & other relatives residing in West Germany. KERNS, William N., 1016 24th St., passed away November 25, (1966). A thirty-year resident of this city, Mr. Kerns was a member of the Seventh Day Church of God in Tacoma. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Florence Rowe, city; 2 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Cordelia Mitchell of Burlington, Kansas; a brother, Jesse R. Kerns of Lacygne, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. The remains will be forwarded by the Jones Funeral Home to LeRoy, Kansas for interment.

KERR, Clarence Walter, age 54 years, of Silverdale, Washington, passed away at the Walter Hampton residence in Deming, Wednesday morning, May 7, (1947). Mr. Kerr was a carpenter and plasterer by trade, but had recently come to Deming because of illness. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ellen Kerr; one son, Dudley, of Bremerton, Washington; two daughters, Mrs. Doris Martinson, of Edmonds, Wash., and Irene, of Wenatchee, Wash.; two step-children, Wayne Hanson, of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Juanita Kelly, of Pullman, Wash.; three grandchildren; four brothers and one sister. KERR, John "Jack", age 65, passed away at a local hospital early Monday morning, April 25, (1949) following a lingering illness. KERR, Robert S. "Scotty" age 51 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Jennie Kerr, 2015 B Street, passed away Sunday, July 21, (1946) at the Puget Sound Pulp docks the result of an accident. Mr. Kerr was employed as a cargo checker for ships and was a member of the local International Longshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union No. 1-7, also the Checker's Union of Seattle. Mr. Kerr was a veteran of World War 1 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, William Matthews Post No. 1585 of Bellingham. Surviving relatives include, beside the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Asklund, of Lynden, and Mrs. Gloria Mize, of Seattle; two grandchildren; also brothers, sisters and other relatives in Canada. The remains are resting at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home where services will be conducted Thursday, July 25, at 3:30 p. m. Interment, Woodlawn.
