OMDAHL, Catherine Marie, age 21, of 23333 Ridge Rt. Drive, El Toro, Calif., passed away Wed., June 16, (1976) at the Saddleback Community Hospital in Laguna Hills, Calif. She was born Aug. 12, 1954 in Ketchikan, Alaska. She was a graduate of the Deloux School of Cosmotology, Vista, Calif. and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Mrs. Omdahl is survived by her husband, Lance Corporal Andrew James Omdahl of El Toro, Calif.; her mother, Mrs. Peggy Chenoweth of Bellingham; two brothers, Randy and Robert Chenoweth both of Bellingham; also one sister, Donna Chenoweth of Alaska. OMLI, Albert, age 65 years, a resident of Bellingham for the past two years, passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, December 25, (1951). Mr. Omli had formerly been a resident of Ferndale for 50 years, previous to his moving to Bellingham. ONDECK, Joseph, aged 49 years, Seattle, Wash., passed away at a Seattle hospital, Sunday, April 18, (1943) following a brief illness. OORDT, Andrew F. - Services for Andrew F. "Andy" Oordt, age 80, former owner of Andy's Cleaning and Janitorial Service, were held Wednesday, March 15, 1989, at Greenacres Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Grant officiating. Mr. Oordt, 219 Judson St., Lynden, died Friday, March 10, in a Bellingham nursing home. He was born Dec. 14, 1907, in Huntley, Mont. A 79-year resident of Whatcom County, Mr. Oordt owned the janitorial service from 1948 to 1972. He enjoyed sports, woodworking and treasure hunting, and attended Emmanuel Bible Church. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; two sisters, Anna Tjoelker and Minnie Wagter of Lynden; and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements were by Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Home.

OORDT, Arthur - Lifetime Lynden resident and businessman Arthur Oordt, 87, died Thursday (December 17, 1987) at his home, 1012 W. Grover St., Lynden. Mr. Oordt was born Aug. 27, 1900 in Lynden, and married Martha Hough on Oct. 2, 1925, in Lynden. For many years, he was co-owner and operator of Oordt Brothers Hatchery, which was on the site of Lynden's Fairway Shopping Center. The business, founded by his father, Herman Oordt, was originally known as Lynden Poultry Farms. He retired in the early 1960s. Mr. Oordt was a member Lynden's Second Christian Reformed Church, where he served as an elder and deacon. He also was a member of the Lynden Christian School Board for may years. Survivors include his wife, Martha, of the family home; two daughters, Sarah Kooy and Margaret "Midge" Timmer, both of Lynden; one son, Herman of Seattle; a sister, Elizabeth Stremler of Lynden; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Gillies Funeral Home. A memorial funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Second Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. Louis Kerkstra officiating. OORDT, William "Bill" died Dec. 19, (1979) in Seattle at the age of 73. He was born in Orange City, Iowa, and came to live in Lynden, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Oordt in 1910. He attended school in the Lynden Christian School. At the age of 18 years he worked as a grocery delivery boy for the Lynden Dept. Store. Later he moved to Seattle and was employed at the Broadway Service Station. He worked for Smith & Gandy Ford Sales Service. He was employed for the Lakeway Ford Sales Rental Sales, Inc. He leaves to survive him, his wife, Mildred, one daughter, Mrs. Cliff Maloney, sons, Jack Oordt, Doug Oordt, all of Seattle and eight grandchildren, one brother, Andrew Oordt of Bellingham, sisters Anne Tjoelker of Everson, Minnie Wagter of Lynden, numerous nephews and nieces. Memorial services were held Wednesday, Dec. 27 at the Flautelroy (sic) Congregational Church in West Seattle.

OOSTEMA, John. - Funeral services for Mr. John Oostema, age 88, who died on Friday, January 19, (1979) were conducted on Tuesday, January 23 at 1:00 p.m. in the Second Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Andrew Cammenga officiating. Burial followed in Monumenta Cemetery. Mr. Oostema, formerly of 710 Liberty Street, Lynden, was born in the Netherlands and came to Chicago at the age of twelve. In 1908 he moved to Montana and to Whatcom County in 1938. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church and was married to Stena VanderVeen in Shepherd, Montana on December 9, 1915. Besides his wife Stena, he is survived by three sons, Jack of Manhattan, Montana, Sidney of Lynden and Albert in Jenison, Michigan; three daughters, Mrs. Grace Brouwer of Manhattan, Miss Anna Oostema of Bellingham and Mrs. Jennie Helder of Everson; twenty-six grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and was preceded by a daughter, Betty, in 1950. Contributions and memorial gifts may be made to the Lynden Christian Rest Home or your favorite charity. Services were under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.

OPEL, Bruce Walton - He was born January 10, 1951, 24 years old of Bellevue. Son of Mr. & Mrs. Walton C. Opel of Coupeville, Wash. OPHEIM, Hans, age 71, of Custer, passed away at his home after a brief illness on Friday, February 14, (1947). He had been a resident of Custer, Route 1, for the past 27 years. He was a member of the Custer Lutheran church and Moose Lodge of Bellingham. He is survived by a nephew L. Nelson, of Vancouver, B. C.; five cousins, Martin Leque, Mrs. E. L. Land, of Stanwood, Mrs. John Flolow, of Tacoma, Mrs. Anna Ordal and Nils M. Leque, of Bellingham. Funeral services will be conducted from the Custer Zion Lutheran church Monday, February 17, at 2 p. m., with pastor Rev. John Halverson, officiating. Burial in Stanwood Cemetery under the direction of the Monroe Funeral Home in Ferndale.

OPIE, Anna, 82, passed away Sunday, May 27 (1973) in a local rest home. She had been a resident of this area the past two years and had previously resided in Chicago for about 40 years. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Malene Ringen, Mrs. Astrid Tamter; two brothers, Anton and Johan Jordet, all of Norway; two nephews, John M. Viken of West Vancouver, B. C. and John M. Viken of North Vancouver. Funeral services were held Monday, May 28 in Moles Funeral Home with Pastor Jay Erickson officiating. The remains were forwarded to Denver, Colo. for interment next to her husband.

OPSTAD, Emelie, age 87 years, of Blaine, Washington, passed away at a local hospital, Wednesday morning, March 6, (1946) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Opstad had been a resident of Blaine for the past 46 years and was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran Church at Custer. Immediate relatives include three sons, Iver A. Opstad, of Iowa City, Iowa; Louie A. Opstad, of Port Townsend, Wash., and Edwin R. Opstad, of Snoqualmie, Wash.; five daughters, Mrs. A. M. Wasdahl, of Cogswell, N. Dak.; Mrs. Glen Smith and Mrs. Verner Roman, both of Huntington Park, Calif.; Mrs. King Rogers, of New York City, and Mrs. Nick Zylstra, of Everett, Wash.; twenty-four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Services were held in the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, Saturday, March 9, at 3:30 p. m., with the Rev. Clarence Haugen, pastor of Our Saviours Lutheran Church officiating. ORADSON, Louise V., age 73 years, who passed away suddenly at her home, 1325 King Street, Tuesday, February 4, (1947). Surviving relatives include two brothers, J. P. Johnson, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ludwig Johnson, Brooklyn, New York, step-son, Harry Oradson, Minnesota, niece, Mrs. B. A. Twiss, Toronto, nephew, George Johnson, Bellingham. ORANGE, Jennie, age 83 of Route 1 Lynden, passed away at her home, Monday, August 8, (1949). Mrs. Orange had been a resident of the Lynden district for the past 44 years. Surviving relatives include three daughters, Mrs. Theo De Hoogh, of Sheldon, Iowa; Mrs. Bert Verberg, of Inwood, Iowa, and Mrs. Stephen Van Lohuizen, of Lynden, Route 1; one son, John A., of Lynden, Route 1; two brothers, Albert and Gerrit Kok, both of Lynden. Two sisters, Mrs. T. DeValois, of Lynden, and Mrs. John Bloemendaal, of Orange City, Iowa. Fifteen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 12, at 2 p. m. (S. T.) in the First Christian Reformed Church in Lynden with the Rev. J. C. Verbrugge officiating. ORANGE, Johanna, 94, of Lynden, died at Christian Rest Home in Lynden on Dec. 14, 1994. Memorial funeral services were conducted on Saturday at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Lynden with Pastor Jerry VanGroningen officiating. Burial preceded in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden. Mrs. Orange was born on Oct. 2, 1900 in Sioux Center, Iowa, a daughter of Garrett and Jacoba Vedder Duim. She came to Whatcom County with her family in 1913. On Oct. 2, 1924, she was married to John Orange. A loving homemaker, Johanna was a charter member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed gardening. Her husband John passed away in 1964. Survivors include four daughters, Jeanne Meenderinck and husband Gerrit of Lynden, Jackie Oordt and husband Herman of Seattle, Margaret Heusinkveld and husband Herman of Lynden and Marilyn Vermeulen and husband Tony of Everson; son John Orange Jr. and wife Joann of Bow; brother Riekus Duim of Lynden; sister-in-law Alice Duim of Sequim; brother-in-law Ralph Hallman of Lynden; and 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. ORANGE, John A., Sr., age 64 of 208 Liberty St. Lynden, passed away suddenly at his home Friday, October 2, (1964). He had been a resident of the Lynden area since 1905 and owned and operated the Orange Repair Shop in Lynden. He was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church. Surviving are his wife, Johannah, 1 son, John H. Orange, Jr., of Lynden, 4 daughters, Mrs. Herman Oordt of Bellingham, Mrs. Gerrit Meenderinck, Mrs. Herman Heusinkveld & Mrs. John Bosman all of Lynden, 2 sisters, Mrs. Steve Van Lohuizen of Lynden, Mrs. Marie VeBurg of Rock Valley, Iowa, also 14 grandchildren. ORCHARD, James, age 91 of Lynden, passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, (1975). A longtime Whatcom County resident, Mr. Orchard was a retired railroad brakeman. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and in 1955 was master of Lynden Lodge No. 56 F&AM. He leaves to survive a stepson, A. S. Gwinn of Port Angeles and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jean Macdonald of Lacey, Wash. Funeral services will be conducted Wed., Oct. 29 at 2 p. m. in the Chapel of the Gillies Funeral Home Lynden, with Rev. ORDAL, John, age 76 of 619 12th St., passed away Fri. April 4, 1980. ORDOS, Barbara, age 80 of Rt. 1, Sumas, passed away in a Seattle hospital, Thursday, March 14, (1963) following a short illness. She moved to Sumas in 1916, living there until six years ago when she moved to Seattle. She was a member of Saint Ann's Catholic Church of Sumas. Surviving are three sons John of Seattle, Joseph of Olympia and Michael of Sumas. Two daughters Mrs. Anne Harrocks and Miss Bertha Ordos, both of Seattle. Also 17 grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Holy Rosary will be recited Friday 7:45 P. M. at Saint Ann's and Requiem Mass, Saturday at 10:30 A. M. at Saint Ann's. ORDOS, John, age 78, of Route 1, Sumas, passed away in the Sedro Woolley Hospital, Monday, Jan. 16, (1961) following an extended illness. He had been a resident of the Sumas area since 1916, was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Sumas and the Whatcom County Dairyman's Assn. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; three sons, John of Seattle, Joseph of Olympia, Michael of Sumas; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Horrocks and Miss Bertha Ordos, both of Seattle, also 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. Holy Rosary will be recited from the Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas, Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 7:30 p. m. ORDWAY, Sarah Lucy, age 86, of Snohomish, Wash., passed away in a local hospital in Bellingham, Saturday, Nov. 15, (1952). Mrs. Ordway was visiting her daughter here. She had been a resident of Snohomish for 64 years and was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church of Snohomish, and a past Matron of the Golden Rod Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Snohomish. Surviving relatives include a daughter, Mrs. Jessie Sealy, of Bellingham; a granddaughter, Mrs. Odessa Baldauf, and a great-granddaughter, Miss Ann Sealy Baldauf, both of Bellingham, and many nephews and nieces. The remains will be forwarded by the Funeral Home of Harlow-Hollingsworth to Purday and Dawson in Snohomish for services and interment.

O'REILLY, Sister Mary Agnes, age 74 years, passed away Monday, October 13th, (1952) at a local hospital, following a lingering illness. Sister Mary Agnes entered the Order of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Newark, Feb. 2nd, 1902. She is survived by two brothers, Mr. Pat O'Reilly of Vancouver, B. C., and Dr. P. J. O'Reilly of Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Miss Mary O'Reilly, of Saginaw, Mich. O'REILLY, Olive M., age 32, passed away May 18, (1953). Miss O'Reilly had resided in this community for the past 24 years and attended the Church of Christ. ORFF, Harry J., age 75, of 2820 Summer St., passed away suddenly Friday, Mar. 25, (1960). Mr. Orff had been a resident of this community for the past 48 years; was a retired meat salesman for the Armour & Co. meat packers, and was a life member of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of N. ORGLER, Sigmund, age 71 years, 1300 Orleans Street, Wednesday, February 13, (1946). Mr. Orgler had resided here the past twenty-six years and was a member of the Knights of Pythias. ORLOFF, Samuel, age 67, of 251 N. Garden Street, passed away in Palm Springs, California, Tuesday, January 28, (1947). Mr. Orloff had been a resident in this community for the past fifteen years and was a member of the Beth Israel Temple. Surviving relatives are the widow, Hannah, at home; two sons, Monford A. and Louis, of Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Marion Stoler, of Omaha, Neb., and four grandchildren. ORNER, Louise Jackman - Lynden native Louise Jackson (sic) Orner died Nov. 15, (1981) in Corvallis Manor, Corvallis, Oregon, at the age of 81. Mrs. Orner was born in Lynden on July 1, 1900. She attended Sunshine Grade School and Lynden High School before leaving the area to attend Oregon Agricultural College. She married Harry W. Orner in 1921. After teaching at Centralia Business College, she became an associate professor in Secretarial Science at Oregon State University, a position she held for 35 years. Her husband preceded her in death in August 1967. Mrs. Orner was a member of O.E.S., P.E.O., Kappa Delta, Kappa Delta Gamma, First United Methodist Church and Community Volunteer Services. She is survived by two children, Jack Orner of Albany, Oregon, and Marylu Abbey of Seattle. Memorial services were held Nov. 18 in First United Methodist Church in Corvallis, with Rev. Robert Burtner officiating, followed by private family committal in Crystal Lake Cemetery. O'ROURKE, Helen A., age 68, who resided at 2139 S. Nugent Rd., Lummi Island, passed away in a local hospital Dec. 22, 1978. She had been a resident of B'ham-Lummi Island for the past 37 years. She leaves to survive her husband, John J. O'Rourke, 1 daughter, Molly Harmoney both of Lummi Island, 4 brothers, Rudy & Cleve Arness both of West Port, Peter Arness of Seattle, and James of Alaska. 4 sisters, JoAnne MacDaniels, Ethel Garland, Amy and Doris all of Seattle. O'ROURKE, John, 78, longtime manager and for many years owner of the Bellingham Hotel, died early Saturday (October 6, 1979) at his home, 2139 S. Nugent Road. O'Rourke, who began his career in the hotel business 54 years ago, got his start at the Hotel McAlpine in New York City and later began his Washington career with the Olympic Hotel, Seattle. He retired in 1972. He was a member of the Washington Club, the Navy League and the Downtown Kiwanis Club. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Molly Harmoney, Lummi Island; two sisters, Elaine Riccards, and Kay Maglioni, both of Florida. Funeral services are pending at Veroske-Jerns-LeVeck Funeral Home.

O'ROURKE, Mary R., age 78, former resident of Bellingham who had resided for the past two years at the Mt. St. Vincent Home in Seattle, passed away Wednesday, March 3, (1948) after a brief illness. She is survived by two daughters, Mary A. Rothermel, of Seattle, and Mrs. Eileen C. Paynton, of Woodland, Calif.; three sons, Don A., of Spokane, James F., of Port Arthur, Texas and Wilfred H., of Richmond, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Rose Morrison, of McMinville, Oregon; also ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. ORPHAN, Milton A., Dr., age 82, of Lacy, WA, passed away Mon., June 25, 1979. He had been a resident of Panorama City since 1967. He had his practice in B'ham from 1920 to 1967 & acted as secretary of the YMCA in B'ham. Retired from the YMCA in 1962. He belonged to the Kiwanis, the B'ham Bay Lodge No. 44 F&AM, Sehome Chapter No. 17 Order of Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice of Lacey; a son, Milton A. ORR, Frances Harriet, age 71 years, of 2130 Williams, passed away at the family residence Monday, Jan. 3, (1955) following a brief illness. Mrs. Orr had resided in Bellingham since 1924 and was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She owned and operated St. Frances Hospital for the past 20 years. Mrs. Orr leaves to survive two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Irwin of Regina, Canada, and Miss Katherine Tooth in Manitoba; two brothers, Arthur Stewart Tooth and John Tooth, in Oakfille, Manitoba; two nephews, James Arthur Tooth and John Stewart Tooth; one niece, Mrs. Daisy Irwin in Saskatchewan. The remains rest at the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home until Friday, Jan. 7, when they will lie in state at St. Paul's Episcopal Church from 12:30 to 1:30 p. m. ORR, J. Wesley, a longtime resident of Deming, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 1990. Born Sept. 6, 1905, in Hollingsworth, near Deming, he was the son of early settlers Harry Vann Orr and Lillie Lind Orr. He spent most of his life in the Deming area, where he owned and operated Valley Repair Service. He was well known for his love of books and his technical curiosity and knowledge. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Jordan Orr, and five children; two sons Harry and wife Marilou, of Deming and Jordan and wife Nora of Federal Way, three daughters Patricia and husband Louis Millay, Beverly and husband Bob Siguaw and Joan Orr, all of Whatcom County; brother Bruce "Bud" Orr and wife Nancy of Perris, Calif., and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At the request of the deceased, there will be no funeral services but a memorial gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday between 2 p. m. and 4 p.m. at the Welcome Senior Center, 5103 Mosquito Lake Road. ORR, Leon Henry, age 60, of Route 2, Everson, passed away at his home Wednesday, April 27, (1949) following a long illness. Mr. Orr had been a resident of the Everson district since 1890 except for twenty years which he spent in Beaver, Washington. He is survived by his wife, Ada; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Erwick, of Beaver, and Mrs. Zella Richards, of Seattle. Also two sons, Jack and Fred, both of Beaver; two brothers, Walter, of Route 2, Everson, and Jess, of Los Angeles, California; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Forks, Washington, Monday, May 2, with interment in Forks Cemetery.

ORR, Lillie May, age 56 years, Everson Route 2, passed away at her home Friday, February 13, (1948) following a short illness. ORRILL, William C., age 76, of 2127 Walnut Street, passed away at the family home Wednesday, July 9, (1952). Mr. Orrill had resided in Bellingham for the past 45 years and was retired owner and manager of the Book Exchange. He was a veteran and a member of the Spanish War Veterans, Wiesenberger Camp No. 8. ORSER, George Ransford, 1410 Alabama Street, passed away at a local hospital, Tuesday, July 6, (1948) after a lingering illness at the age of 87 years. OSBORNE, Alfred James, familiarly known as "Charlie," age 70 years, 2412 Lynn Street, passed away at a local hospital, Saturday, February 28, (1948) after an illness of three weeks. Mr. Osborne had been a resident of Bellingham for the past twenty-six years and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal church, the Loyal Order of Moose; also the local Teamster's Union. OSBORNE, Daisy E., age 80 who resided at 2412 Lynn St. passed away Friday, November 17, (1961) in Seattle, Wash., as a result of a heart attack. Mrs. Osborne had resided in Bellingham for the past 35 years and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, The Daughters of the King and the Sehome Chapter No. 17 O. E. S. She leaves to survive her son, Floyd A. Osborne, her grandson, Ray E. and her granddaughter Joan E., all residing in Seattle. Also 1 niece, Mrs. Lillian Woodruff of Salem, Oregon. Father W. OSBORNE, Earl, age 55 years, Seattle, Wash., passed away suddenly from a heart attack, Wednesday, August 20, (1947) in Bellingham. Mr. Osborne had been employed as chief engineer by the Alaska Steamship Company, and had just returned from Alaska Tuesday. He served in World War I, a sergeant in the army, also in the Merchant Marine in World War II. He was a member of the Marine Engineers Beneficial Association, and the National Association of Practical Refrigerating Engineers. Mr. Osborne leaves to survive, his widow, Mrs. Beulah Osborne, and three sons, Ray William Osborne with the U. S. navy; Floyd Walter and Stanley, both at home; four sisters, Mrs. Olga Van Vliet, Marietta, Mrs. Winnie Beals, Elma, Wash., Mrs. Vivian Perry, Tacoma, and Mrs. Clare Brown, Selleck, Wash., also numerous other relatives. OSBORNE, Phoebe I., age 84 of Lynden, passed away Tuesday, July 6, (1976). A Lynden resident since Feb. of this year, Mrs. Osborne had lived most of her life in Oregon. She was a member of the Amity Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women's Club, the Amity Civic Club, the Rebecca Lodge Order of Eastern Star in Amity. She was married to William R. Osborne on June 17, 1917. Mr. Osborne passed away in 1964. OSBRINK, Shirley M., age 55, resident of Lopez Island, died Thursday, January 8, 1981 at United General Hospital, Sedro Woolley. She was born in Bellingham on November 7, 1925 and graduated from Bellingham High School. She was united in marriage to William Osbrink on April 9, 1948 in Bellingham. After residing in Spokane for 28 years, the family moved to Lopez Island in 1978. Mrs. Osbrink was a member of the Lopez Community Church; Richardson Guild; and Lopez Garden Club, all of Lopez Island. OSGOODBY, Lawrence J. - Funeral services for Lawrence J. Osgoodby, 69, of 685 Steelhead Lane, Burlington were conducted on Thursday, June 29, at 1:00 p.m., in Greenacres Memorial Park with Mr. Stephen Ludeman officiating. Born in Avon in Skagit County, Mr. Osgoodby died suddenly on Monday, June 26, (1978) in Bend, Oregon. A Burlington resident for the past five years, Mr. Osgoodby was a member of Teamsters Local No. 231 and was married to Dorothy Bodine in Bellingham on December 21, 1937. Besides his wife Dorothy, he is survived by a son, Brian of Bellingham; five daughters, Barbara Forthun of Bellingham, Cathy VanGinkle of Bend, Oregon, Laurie Mears of Edmonds, Cindy Osgoodby of Valdez, Alaska and Debbie Osgoodby of Bellingham and six grandchildren. OSIER, Grace Winifred, age 83, died August 20, 1994 at her home. She was born at Pt. Roberts, WA August 18, 1911 to William and Leah (McKeen) Taylor. She lived most of her life in Bellingham. She graduated from Fairhaven High School in 1931. She worked as a waitress at the Bellingham and Leopold Hotels for over 20 years before retiring. She enjoyed collecting and refinishing antiques. Grace was loved by many and was always there to help someone in need. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a member of Sons of Norway and attended Garden St. United Methodist Church. Grace had five brothers who served in WWII at the same time. Grace's mother was a Five Star Mother. She is survived by her son, Gerald G. Rehberger and wife Bonnie of Bellingham; daughters, Donna Soward of Fair Oaks, CA and Marlene Likkel of Portland, OR; sisters, Alice Spaulding of Bellingham and Betty Granger of Puyallup, WA; brothers, Tom Taylor, Dan Taylor, and Pat Taylor all of Bellingham, and Jim Taylor of Alaska. 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren. Mr. Oslin, who died Nov. 9, (1971) in a Seattle rest home, lived in Ferndale from 1932 to 1962 where he was an insurance agent. OSMUND, Sverre Johan, age 77 of Soap Lake, WA passed away Friday, Jan. 2 (1976) in Palm Springs, Calif. Mr. Osmund had been a previous resident of Blaine and was a retired commercial fisherman. OSTHOFF, William Otto, age 63, of Rt. 2, Lynden, passed away in a Bellingham hospital Thursday, Apr. 9, (1959) following a short illness. He had been a resident of the Lynden area since 1948 and until retiring had been employed by the Biles Coleman Lumber Co. of Omak, Okanogan County, for 25 years as a section foreman. OSTLIND, Ivan Martin, 91, 2423 C St., died Wednesday (June 19, 1985) at a local nursing home. He was born Dec. 5, 1893, in Sweden and came to Whatcom County in 1923. Mr. Ostlind had worked for many years as custodian at the Whatcom County Courthouse. He is survived (by) a daughter, Eleanor Hartley of Portland, Ore. OSTRANDER, Christopher, age 62 of The Rockwood Hotel passed away Wednesday, March 22, (1967). Mr. Ostrander was a resident of Bellingham for many years and was a Merchant Seaman and a member of the National Maritime Union. OSTROM, Gladys M. - Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Marie Ostrom, age 76, who died at her home on Friday, December 30, (1983) were conducted on Tuesday, January 3, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Gillies Funeral Home with Rev. Mrs. Ostrom, of 812 Sumas Avenue, Sumas, was born in Everett on October 19, 1907 and had been a county resident for most of her life. She is survived by three sons, Art, of Burlington, Dixon and wife Carol of Vancouver, Washington, and Barry and wife Diane of Monmouth, Oregon; a daughter, Mrs. Myrna and husband Lonnie Mills of Leaburg, Oregon; eleven grand and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Aldrich of Bellingham and Mrs. Alice Remington of Ferndale; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Alma Ostrom of Everson; and numerous nieces and nephews. OSTROM, Peter, age 63, of Rt. 2, Everson, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Oct. 21, (1961) following an extended illness. He had been a resident of Whatcom County since 1902 and had made his home in the Nooksack area since 1909. Since 1930 he had owned and operated the Ostrom Mink Farm. He was a member of the Olympic Fur Breeders Association, the Tri-County Fur Breeders Association, and the Great Lakes Marketing Board. Surviving are his wife, Alma, at home; two sons, Vincint of Sherman Oaks, Calif., and Gordon of Rt. 2, Everson; one daughter, Mrs. Echo Tucker of Rt. 2, Everson; three brothers, Eric of Saskatchewan, Canada, Gust of Sumas, Oscar of Everson. OTLY, Elgie, 83, 3426 Bay Road, Ferndale, died Saturday (June 5, 1982) in a local hospital. The son of Custer and Haynie pioneers, he was born there May 17, 1899, and lived in that area his entire life. He was a retired farmer, piano teacher and Custer Methodist church organist. He is survived by a nephew and wife, Cecil and Elaine Otly, numerous grand nephews and nieces and a longtime friend, Franklin Phillips Jr. No funeral services were held. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.

OTTER, Dena - A memorial service for Dena Otter, a longtime Lynden resident, was held on Friday, Dec. 30, at Third Christian Reformed Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gerrit W. Sheeres officiating. Burial preceded at Monumenta Cemetery. Mrs. Otter passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1988, at the Christian Rest Home at the age of 101. She was born in the Netherlands on Oct. 4, 1887, to Johan and Wilhelmina Van Mersbergen. She came from Holland to Nebraska at the age of 3 and then to Lynden. On April 13, 1911, she married Ulke John Otter, who preceded her in death in 1954. Mrs. Otter was a homemaker and, until moving to the Christian Rest Home in 1980, she resided at 708 Grover Street. She was a charter member of the Third Christian Reformed Church. She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Otter of Lynden and Gertrude Vanderwall and her husband Marion of Grangeville, Idaho; a son, John and wife Jennie of Lynden; two sisters, Minnie Bylsma and Tena Haak of Lynden; two brothers, John Van Mersbergen and Gerrit Van Mersbergen of Lynden; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mina Polinder, in 1982 and two brothers and three sisters. The family suggests contributions to Lynden Christian School, 515 Drayton St., Lynden, WA 98264. Arrangements were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert MacCauley, of Sacramento, California, Miss Garretta Otter, at home; three sons, Marius DeBore, Ren Debore, of Lynden, Eugene Otter, of Sacramento, California; four brothers, Garrit, of Minnesota, Frank and U. J., of Lynden, Route 1, Gerlof Wijckel, Holland; two sisters, Hinke Otter, Holland, Trina Roelevinck, Oudemirdum, Holland; also nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 16, at 2 p. m. from the First Christian Reform Church, at Lynden, with the Rev. J. C. Verbrugge officiating. Interment in Monumenta Cemetery under the direction of Gillies of Lynden.

OTTER, Stella, age 78 of 108 7th St., Lynden, passed away suddenly at home Wednesday, June 29, (1966). A resident of Lynden since 1918, she was a member of the First Reformed Church. Surviving are 2 sons, Gerrit and Johan, both of Lynden; 3 daughters, Mrs. Frances Koole of Burnaby, B.C.; Gertrude and Grace Otter, both of Lynden; a brother Henry Boersma and a sister, Sophia Boersma, both of Standish, Calif.; also 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the First Reformed Church Saturday, July 2 at 2 p.m. with Rev. William Millier officiating. Burial will follow in Monumenta Cemetery under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.

OTTER, Uelke John, 67, of Lynden, passed away at a local hospital Tuesday, September 28, (1954) following a lingering illness. He had resided in the Lynden district for the past 46 years. He is survived by his wife, Dena; 3 daughters, Mrs. Henry Polinder, Lynden, Route 2, Mrs. Marion Vander Wal, Grangerville, Idaho, Dorothy Otter at home; one son, John G. Otter, Lynden, Route 2; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Frank Otter of Lynden; one sister and one brother in Holland. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 1, at 2 p. m. from the Third Christian Reformed Church in Lynden, with the Rev. F. W. Van Houten officiating. OTTERLEI, Henry, age 65 years, of Rt. 1, Ferndale, passed away at a Bellingham hospital Saturday, May 10th, (1952) following an extended illness. He had been a resident of Ferndale, Rt. 1, for the past 21 years and was a member of the Lutheran Church and the Washington Co-operative Farmers Association. Mr. Otterlei is survived by his wife, Marie; one daughter, Mrs. Hertha Knutsen, of Bellingham; two sons, William K., in U. S. Navy, and Henry M. in U. S. Army, stationed in California; three sisters, Mrs. Inga Abbott and Mrs. M. Ibers, both of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. T. Hatlin, of Grants Pass, Ore.; two brothers, Martin and Martinus, both in Norway; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 15th, at 2 p. m. from the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale. Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery.

OTTESON, Julia, age 87, of 1817 Knox Ave., passed away Wednesday, December 9, (year not given) in a local nursing home. Mrs. Otteson had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 15 years and was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. She leaves to survive a nephew, Henry Otteson of Oak Harbor. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, December 11 at 1 p.m. in the Oak Harbor Cemetery under the direction of the Bartelson Funeral Home. OTTESTAD, Agnes W., age 56, 2710 46th Street passed away in a local hospital, Wednesday, Nov. 7, (1962). Mrs. Ottestad had resided in this community her entire life, was a cook at the Whatcom County Hospital, and a member of Bellingham Rebekah Lodge No. 43. Contributions may be made to the Cancer Fund. Survivors are one sister, Mrs. Alma Holeman, Anacortes; one brother, Oscar Westland, city, and one nephew, Calvin Clifford, Arkansas City, Kan. OTTESTAD, Clarence N., age 68, of 2414 C St. passed away in a local hospital Friday, May 11, (1962). Mr. Ottestad had been a life resident of this community; was a retired cannery foreman for P.A.F.; was a veteran of World War I and a member of Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7, American Legion. Surviving relatives are his widow, Gertrude J. at home; one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Loomis of Bellingham; one son, Lloyd Pearson of Sequim; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy A. Larson of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Ernest L. Marchand of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Justin D. Ottestad of Bellingham and Harold F. Ottestad of Odessa, Wn., also many nephews and nieces. OTTESTAD, Emalese A., age 86, formerly of 345 Harrison St., Sumas, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1988, in Lynden. Mrs. Ottestad was born Dec. 21, 1901, in Fairmount, Georgia. She and her family moved to the West Coast by train. She celebrated her first birthday on the train and arrived in Portland two days later. The family moved to the Sumas area in 1911. Mrs. Ottestad was a past member of the Bellingham Women's Music Club and had been president of the club for two years. In the late 1940s she worked for the U.S. government. She sold health insurance for several years before her retirement. She is survived by her son, David Bromley of Sumas, and a daughter, Meridean Bromley of Salmon, Idaho. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ina Kerr and Nina Richmond. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Ottestad were conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1988, at 1 p.m. Sumas Cemetery, with Rev. Earl Crouse officiating. The family suggests memorials to the Bellingham Women's Music Club. Services were under the direction of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

OTTO, Bessie L., age 82 of 2400 Samish Way, passed away Sat. June 19, (1976). Mrs. Otto had resided in Bellingham for the past 64 years and leaves to survive 1 son, Lloyd J. Newell of this city, 2 grandchildren, 2 greatgrandchildren. 2 sisters, Mrs. Blanche Jessup of Hill City, Minn., and Mrs. Pearl Klar of Yakima. OTTO, Carl L., age 65 of 2095 W. Shore Drive, Lummi Island, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, (1974). Mr. Otto had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 22 years and was a retired design engineer. He leaves to survive his mother, Mrs. Lena Otto of Garden City, Long Island. OTTO, Charles Walter, age 67, who resided at 200 E. Pine St., passed away in a local hospital on Monday, March 27, (1961) following an extended illness. Mr. Otto had resided in Bellingham his entire lifetime and was a member of the F.O.E. Aerie No. 31, the I. L. and W. U. Local No. 7. He was a dispatcher for the longshoremen for 20 years. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Bessie Otto at the family residence, his step-children, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Newell, his grandchildren, Ronald and Shirley Newell, all of Bellingham, his aunt, Mrs. Dalton Barr of Tacoma. OTTO, Louise, age 78 years, 200 Pine Street, passed away at a local hospital Monday, May 27, (1946) after a brief illness. OTTO, Mary, age 88 years, who made her home with her granddaughter, Mrs. Arthur Morse and Mr. Morse, 2113 Thirtieth, passed away at a local hospital, Wednesday, February 13, (1946) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Otto had been a resident of Bellingham for the past forty-five years and was a member of Maple Leaf Chapter, No. 58, O. E. S. Surviving relatives include two sisters, Mrs. Kate Nutter, of Bellingham, and Mrs. Nellie Lane, Sioux City, Iowa; one grandson, one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews. OUILLETTE, Ruby - Death Tuesday (March 25, 1958) claimed pioneer Michigan school teacher and resident of Bellingham since 1907, Mrs. Ruby Ouillette, 88, 2130 King St., who died in a local hospital after a long illness. She came west to Blaine in 1907, and shortly after that to Bellingham where, with the exception of two years in Anacortes, she had lived since. Mrs. Ouillette was for years active in Red Cross work and was a member of Clara Barton Circle, Ladies of the G.A.R. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Hughbanks of Seattle; two sons, True Ouillette of Sumner and Ross Ouillette of Pullman; five grandchildren and one great grandchild; and a brother, George Lampman of Bellingham. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Jones Funeral Home.

OUSLEY, Alvah Briton, age 88 years, of 1256 Northwest Road passed away Saturday, April 11, (1953) at a local hospital following an extended illness. OUSLEY, Roy Leslie, Rev., age 75, of 2618 Queen St., passed away in a local hospital Sunday, July 3, (1960). Rev. Ousley had resided in this community for 41 years and was a retired carpenter. During his later years, Rev. Ousley was ordained as a lay minister, and he was a member of the Free Methodist Church. Surviving relatives are his widow, Nellie, at home; two sons, Kenneth H. and Orville L., both of Bellingham; four grandchildren, two brothers, Homer and Miles Ousley; two sisters, Mrs. Grace McFate of Norwood, Mo., and Mrs. Hazel Jenson of Bemidji, Minn., also nieces and nephews. OVENELL, Albert R., age 86, of Burlington, died Mon., Oct. 22, 1984 in a Sedro Woolley hospital. He was born April 18, 1898 in Avon, Skagit County. He was a 1917 graduate of Burlington High School and a Navy veteran of World War I. His marriage to Alvena Lane took place Sept. 27, 1918 in Bellingham. She died in 1980. He was a retired dairy farmer.
