The Circuit Court

The October term of Circuit Court for Richland county convened at the court house at 9 o’clock Tuesday, the Hon. George Clementson presiding. But little time was taken up in preliminaries and the court was in good working order in less time than it requires to write these few lines. The calendar was first reviewed and cases arranged for trial, when several divorce cases were taken up and disposed of. Up to this writing, Wednesday morning, nearly everything of importance before the court has been wiped out, with the criminal calendar yet to take up, which will probably occupy a greater portion of the week. The usual array of legal talent from abroad is here, among whom are Messrs. Brooks & Dutcher, and J. D. Wilson, of Boscobel, A. C. Eastland, C. G. Rodolf and W. S. Manning, of Muscoda; Mr. Hanson, of Milwaukee, and R. B. Jones, of Madison. The usual number of jurors and witnesses are on hand.

A Good Cow

Mr. E. B. Looker, of Ash Ridge, one of Richland’s best farmers, dairymen and fruit growers, while in our office on Monday told us of a  somewhat remarkable cow that he owns. He says in April 1881, she bore twin calves. In July 1882 she brought him another calf, and on the 8th of the present month she gave birth to twins. From January 1st to July 1st, 1883, they made from this noble animal 120 pounds of butter.
