THE DILLY BAND
From left to right: Fred Pesik, Joe Stanek, Joseph Sinkule, Fred Slama, Rudy Pesik, John Sebranek, Edward Sebranek, John Haas, and Frank Chlup.
Although our original ancestors worked hard to make a living for themselves once they arrived in Wisconsin, there was also time to relax.  Public dances were a common form of entertainment, and Dilly was like many other small communities in its day by sponsoring its own live band.  Sources say Dilly had dances nearly once a week.

THE DILLY BAND
Third from left: John W. Sebranek, an accomplished carpenter (my great-grandfather)
Man standing with axe: Anton (Tony) Sebranek, the general store owner. Man seated, fourth from right: Frank Picha, a tavern owner.
Dilly, located five miles southwest of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, is now a ghost town. Highway 82 passes through the area which used to host a bustling small community in the early 1900s. This picture of the men of Dilly, Wisconsin, has caused much debate after being discovered by Victor Picha (son of Frank Picha). Some of the local folks think it looks like bootlegging, but after closer examination, it appears like the men are displaying their trades. Not all men in this photo have been identified, perhaps someone will recognize their ancestor.
