How can you help others that are researching in Lamar County, Alabama and neighboring areas?  I'm so glad you asked that question because there are many ways, big and small, that could turn out to not only help others in their research, but to help you in your search as well!!  Please take a few minutes to read the following suggestions and consider doing one or more of them!  After all, this website is being brought to you by a whole host of folks who have volunteered their time and what bits of data, large and small, that can be shared!

  1. Submit your Surnames!  You may find a new "cousin"!

  2. Submit your Lamar County Queries!  Those little extra details about your family that you provide just may crack that brick wall wide open!

  3. Share the documents you have in your files for posting on this site and the Lamar County AlGenWeb Archives!  Wills, Deeds, Bible Records, Family letters, Civil War service info, etc. are all welcome!  The easiest format for me to add to the site is .txt format but .htm or .html formats are also easy.  If you have documents in other formats that you would like to share, please email me and we can decide what is the easiest format for me to use!

  4. Volunteer to transcribe documents that are already online through the USGenWeb project!  Read more about it!

  5. Volunteer to host a county or state page through USGenWebRead more about it!

  6. Post your surnames and family info to the ALLamar Mailing List!  New folks are subscribing all the time and may not go back and read the archives!  Help keep the list going by posting again today!  Posting address for ALLamar List (email).

Thank you for considering helping others!
