Mr. W. A. Musgrove,
                        Sir.
Your letter of the 8th ull (?); addressed to Capt. came in today. I would
have written immediately the particulars of his dealth, but in consequence
of communication being cut by the Enemy I have deferred till the present.

Capt. Harris was killed on the 30th of July, not instantly, he lived some
two hours after the fatal ball pierced his brain. Lt. Davis wrote to his
Sister concerning his death immediately - suppose it is received in this.

The Capt.'s papers and effects are all hear (sic) as when he was killed. I
suggest that you come or send some one to insure their safe passage home as
it would be very unsafe to risk them on the road.

Some of the Capt.'s things are hear (sic) and some are at Richmond, but all
can be very easily mustard(sic).

Capt. Harris has two pistoles (sic), one sword and belt - a uniform and
other clothing; also account-book and papers showing the condition of
things relative to his pecuniary affairs, etc. etc.

It is very desirous his relatives should get his things as he left them.
They would be treasured trophies. I will do anything in my power that you
may think best with these effects.

                                                I am very truly, etc.

                                                A. A. Walden
                                                1st Lt. Pineridge (?) Company
