Vedder, William H. Born in Schenectady, N.Y. Engaged in the lumber business in Schenectady until his removal to Pasadena in 1889. Elected Mayor of Pasadena, April 1903. On May 8, 1903, he had the pleasure of showing President Theodore Roosevelt Pasadena. Vedder was associated with the First Trust & Saving Bank of Pasadena, in 1905 and held successively positions of treasure, vice-president, president and Chairman of the Board of Directors of that institution. He continued in the last-named position until his death in1923. Vedder was also at different time vice president, president and Chairman of the board of directors of the First Nation Bank. He was president of both banks for about four years, from 1911 to 1915. Vedder was also a Director for Home Telephone Co. of Pasadena, President and Director of Pasadena Grocery Co. He was a long time trustee for California Institute of Technology. He was also, the Chairman of the Red Cross for many years. Helped to found the Pasadena Water Works and President and Director of the Pasadena Masonic Temple, Thirty-second degree Mason, Knight Templar, Shirner, Member of the Woodmen of the World and Royal Arcannum. |
