MRS. HIE GERDES BURIED SAT. P.M.
Resident of This Community 32 Years Died Wednesday, July 12thFuneral services were conducted Saturday afternoon, July 15, for Mrs. H.F. GERDES, 60, a resident of this community for 32 years. The Rev. C.R. KRUSE officiated at the services held in the First Presbyterian church of Brewster. Burial was in Hersey cemetery here.
Mrs. GERDES died Wednesday morning, July 12, 1944, at her home here.
Alta Mae POWERS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lindle POWERS, was born February 9, 1884, at Hartley, Ia. The family moved to Minnesota when she was a small child and has been a resident of this state since then. On November 2, 1911 she was married to Hie GERDES, nine children being born to this union, all of whom survive their mother except one son, Luverne who died at the age of two years in 1924.
Left to mourn her departure are her husband; three sons, Harvey, Clarence and Lindle, all of Worthington; five daughters, Mrs. Emil VON HOLDT, Mrs. Henry REIMER of Round Lake, Mrs. Donald FURY whose husband is in the service, and Myrtle and Shirley at home; her father, Mr. Lindle POWERS; two sisters, Mrs. Frank WILSON of Euclid, Minn., and Mrs. Edna MARCHAND of Milford, Ia; one brother, Earl POWERS, of California, and ten grand children.
Among the out-of-town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mrs. Edna MARCHAND of Milford, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Frank GERDES and Lloyd of Norcross, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. John GERDES of Melrose, Minn., Mrs. Walt GEBE of Minneapolis, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. George GERDES of Bertrum, Minn., Pvt. And Mrs. Donald FURY of Orlando, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Charles WEIST of Hartley, Ia., Mrs. Frank LEONARD of Hartley, Ia., Mrs. Will WELCH of Hartley, Ia., Frank AHRENS of Okabena, Mr. and Mrs. Walter AHRENS of Okabena, Mr. and Mrs. Lenert ACKERMAN and Mrs. Albert NELSON of Lakefield, Mr. and Mrs. Alwood VINCENT of Fairmont, Minn.
