Census

The first census of Washington county was taken in the fall of 1849 and showed the following results:

Males, 821; females, 291; total, 1,112.

Of this number, males, 455; females, 154;. total, 609, were residing in the town of Stillwater.

Hence the number of males, 366; females, 137; total, 503; was the county population outside of Stillwater.*
