Services for Jerry Wayne Hughes, Sr., 52, of Vaiden,
who died of cancer Friday, July 14, 2000, at his
residence, will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Williams
& Lord Chapel in Greenwood.
He was born in Greenwood and was a lifelong resident.
He had lived in Vaiden since 1998. He worked for
Thompson Machinery for 31 years as a welder. He played
in the "Wintergreen" band for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wayne Hughes
Jr. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bowers Hughes of
Vaiden; one son, Rodney Hughes of Greenwood; one
daughter, Melissa Moffett of Kosciusko; one
stepdaughter, Cecelia Tucker of Vaiden; two sisters,
Marilyn Turner of Jackson and Debbie Hall of Greenwood;
his mother, Winnie Seary of Greenwood; and three
grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the
funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Williams, Billy Womble,
Paul Melton, Frank Montgomery, Benny Barrentina, Michael
Boles, David Browning, and Woodrow "Woody"
Thomas. Dr. Ed Rafique will be the Honorary pallbearer.
Rev. Joseph Sansing will officiate at the services.
Burial will be in Longview Cemetery in Carroll
County.
