Services for Arthur "Buddy" Jones, 66, of
Greenwood, who died of heart failure Tuesday, Oct. 3,
2000, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at
Williams & Lord Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Air Force for 13 years
and served during the Vietnam War. He was a technician
for Pan-Am Airlines in San Francisco for seven years. He
was a riverboat captain with Ergon Oil Co. for 17 years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 29 where
he was quartermaster.
He was born in Carroll County and resided most of his
life in the Greenwood area. He was a member of the
Abundant Life Pentecostal Church of God in Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Connie N. Jones of
Greenwood; two stepsons, Larry G. Norman of Greenwood;
and Ralph E. Fields of Starbuck, Wash.; three brothers,
Daniel Jones of Greenwood, Lewis Jones of Carrollton and
Andy Jones of Inverness, Ala.; and four sisters, Frances
Rice and Wanda Corley both of Greenwood, Mattie Clark of
Teoc and Linda Collins of Madison, Ala.
The Rev. O. Lawrence Perkins and the Rev. Billy Trull
will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Valley
Hill Cemetery in Carroll County.
Pallbearers will be Lewis Jones Jr., Kenneth Jones,
Jerry Corley, Curtis Collins Jr., Danny Jones and Gary
Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Harold
Wheeler, L.C. Andrews and Marsh Pickett.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m today at the
funeral home.
