Valley Lee Montgomery, Sr.
CARROLLTON - Services for Valley Lee Montgomery Sr.,
90, of Carrollton, who died of cancer Sunday, Dec. 22,
2002, at his home, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mount
Pisgah Baptist Church in Carroll County.
Mr. Montgomery was a retired farmer and heavy
equipment operator. A native of Carroll County, he
resided there most of his life. He was a member of Mount
Pisgah Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elinor Campbell
Montgomery.
He is survived by four daughters, Linda Rayburn,
Hazel Swindoll and Bunny Palmertree, all of Carrollton,
and Jean Payne of Eupora; three sons, Valley Lee
Montgomery Jr. of Saline, La., Don Montgomery of Jackson
and Frank Montgomery of Carrollton; 19 grandchildren; 40
great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Scott Hudson and the Rev. Sonny Redwine will
officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount
Pisgah Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Montgomery, Mike Rayburn,
Duane Montgomery, Chris Payne, Curtis Payne, Scott
Montgomery, Pat Montgomery and Lee Montgomery. Honorary
pallbearers will be Gerald Payne, Brad Rayburn, Dale
Montgomery and Johnny McClain.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 this evening at
Williams and Lord Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until the
time of the services Tuesday at the church.
