Services for James Emmett Scoggins, who died at his
residence near Vaiden on Mar. 1st, were conducted at Old
Plank Church Friday afternoon, March 4th, at 2 O'clock
with the Rev. W.C. Black, assisted by Rev. Tom Johnston,
officiating.
Interment was in Old Plank Cemetery with Oliver
Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Scoggins who was 72, was born in Montgomery
County Dec. 24, 1882. He married the former Miss Luna
Stephens on Feb. 20, 1907. He had been in ill health for
the past 7 years. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel
Methodist Church in Carroll County.
In addition to his wife, he leaves one son, Lt. Col.
James E. Scoggins, USA Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters,
Mrs. Marion Bingham, and Mrs. E.C. Briscoe, both of
Vaiden; two brothers, W.C. and Johnnie Scoggins of
Vaiden; one grandson and a host of nieces and nephews.
