VAIDEN - Services for Howard Shirley, 75, of Vaiden,
who died of an aneurysm Monday, April 14, 2003, at
Vaiden Community Living Center, will be at 2 p.m. today
at Oliver Funeral Home in Winona.
Mr. Shirley was a farmer. He was a member of Vaiden
Baptist Church. He was also a member of Farm Bureau,
Cattleman's Association and was an FHA Committeeman. He
was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean
War.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Shirley of Vaiden;
six daughters, Ann Robbins of Hernando, Beverly Shirley
of Vaiden, Maj. Patsy Stewart of Fayetteville, Ga.,
Marsha Burrell of Vaiden, Linda Pogue of Eupora and
Sandy Goodson of Grenada; a son, Jerry Shirley of Vaiden;
four brothers, Otis Shirley of Vidor, Texas, Ocie
"Peter" Shirley of Vaiden, Gene Shirley of
Carmack and James Shirley of Winona; nine grandchildren;
and seven great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Leon Holly will officiate at the services.
Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery near Vaiden.
Pallbearers will be Joe Don Jones, Marion Jones, Mark
Havens, Dennis Dean, Clint Tompkins and Frank Stanton.
Visitation was from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the
funeral home.
