Artemus
Shattuck
Query posted May 29, 2004
Please add Shattuck to your Surname Registry. My g-g-grandfather was Artemas Shattuck. He came to Carrollton as a Baptist minister in 1843 and was a member at New Bethel Baptist Church. His wife, Mary or Mary Ann Shattuck died during 1843, and Artemas Shattuck was listed as "dismissed" in 1843 on the roster. An "Ann" Shattuck is listed as deceased in that year. I am interested in finding out more about Ann Shattuck. What age was she and was she married and to whom? Many thanks, and I hope someone can help me in this quest.

I am looking for the wife of Artemas Shattuck. Artemas Shattuck was a Baptist minister and is shown as a member of Carrollton Baptist Church in 1843. All that I know about his wife is that she died sometime during that year along with a one-year-old son. Artemas is shown as "dismissed" the following year, 1844. His wife's name was Mary Caldwell or perhaps Mary "Ann" Shattuck. There is an Ann Shattuck listed in 1843 as "deceased" in the Carrollton Baptist Church list of 1843. Do you have any idea which cemetery she would be buried in? He was the brother of David Olcott Shattuck who gave Artemas a plot of ground upon which he raised one crop. I am most interested to find information on his wife's burial place and their infant son.
Many thanks!
