CENSUS

Dunn County was originally formed in 1883 from a portion of Howard County. In 1885 it was reformatted by gaining from Williams, McKenzie, and Stark Counties and losing some portions to Billings and Villard Counties. In 1896 it was abolished to form Stark County. In 1901 it was established again regaining what was lost in 1896. Finally in 1908 it gained from some Unorganized Territory to form today's [2022] county. Visuals of the formations over the years can be seen here.
