BALFOUR

A 1910 township [T152 R77] and a village. The village was founded in 1898 in Section 28 of Balfour Township and named by railroad officials for Arthur, Lord Balfour, a British statesman and essayist. The post office was established 9 February 1899 with Ador Jevnager as Postmaster. The elevation is 1613, the Zip Code is 58712, and the village, which incorporated in 1921, reported a peak population of 399 in 1910, but has declined steadily to just 51 in 1980. In 2018 the population was about 27 people.
