• Summary: Photocopy of her typed history of Mohall, N.D. founded in
1901 by M.O. Hall, in Renville County. The four chapters are: 1.
"Physiography of the Mouse River Loop, North Dakota," 2. "The founding
of Mohall," 3. "The coming of the railroad," and 4. "The reorganization
of Renville County." The history generally covers through 1903 except
the county reorganization which goes to 1910. Chapters include a
description of the area, and mention blizzards, floods and the effect on
travel from Minot, N.D., area towns including Minot and Towner, N.D.,
the naming of Mohall, early residents, expansion of the railroad, and
the division of Ward County into Renville and Ward Counties.

• Summary: Relates, in very good detail, the daily
activities of Mr. Land who moved from Davenport, N.D. to homestead in
Bottineau County near Mohall, N.D. with Halvor Haugan and his sons,
Martin and Louis Haugan. They traveled by railroad car to Minot and then
by wagon to their claims. There is an entry for every day detailing such
activities as hauling their possessions and lumber from Minot,
constructing the shacks, breaking the sod, and the weather, including a
June snowstorm.
