Helen L. (Eldridge) Blevins

October 13, 1930 ~ June 13, 2019

Helen L. Blevins, 88, of Sandusky passed away peacefully Thursday morning, June 13, 2019 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky following a lengthy illness with COPD.

Helen was born October 13, 1930 in Bath County Kentucky to the late George and Louisa (Stull) Eldridge. She was employed at the former American Crayon-Dixon Ticonderoga Company in Sandusky for 43 years, retiring in 1994. She was especially proud of being a pioneering female in her position of machine operator/group leader, and her union involvement on the workman's committee. Helen was a fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and was an avid auto racing fan. She loved watching NASCAR, cheering for Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Junior while jeering Jimmy Johnson and that "Ole" Kyle Busch. Helen also sang in the Rocky Hill Quartet at the Church of God in Howard's Mill Kentucky. She was very patriotic and loved her country. Helen loved attending car shows, bird watching, and gardening. The highlight of Helen's life was her children and granddaughter, Marina.

Helen was married for 58 years to the late Buford Blevins on October 22, 1949 at the Paris Christian Church in Paris Kentucky.

Helen is survived by her son, Wendell (Cecilia) Blevins of Bellevue; her daughter, Jennifer (Mike) Neuman of Punta Gorda, Florida; her granddaughter, Marina Neuman of Columbia, South Carolina; three sisters, Phyllis Caldwell, Sue Caldwell both of Castalia, and Margaret Koch of Arizona, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Buford; her parents; and siblings, George "Bud" Eldridge, Jr., Zella Berryman, Jean Dix, and Wilma "Dottie" Lawson.

Friends may call from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday, June 17, 2019 in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. The Rev. James Gregory will officiate.

Entombment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
