JoAnne "Jody" Buller, 84, residing in Sandusky , passed away peacefully Monday, May 20, 2019 under hospice care from metastatic breast cancer.
Jody was born on February 13, 1935 in to the late Wayne and Anna (Welton) Martin.
Jody graduated from Sandusky High School in 1953 and attended The Ohio State University. She was a part of the first graduating class of BGSU Firelands with a degree in teaching. She loved teaching kindergarten and 1st grade at Mills School in Sandusky prior to raising her boys. Jody was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. An avid sports fan, she followed her beloved Buckeyes as well as the Cleveland sports teams, especially the Tribe. Her love of nature was only surpassed by her love of family. Often she was found tending to her flower beds and observing her bird feeders. Her compassion and sense of humor is what most will remember her for, causing outbursts of laughter from the nursing staff even when things were not looking favorable for herself.
Jody is survived by her sons, John "JB" (Laurie Waterfield) Buller and Michael Buller, both of Sandusky; sister, Pat (Herb) Nielsen of Castalia; her favorite nephew, Jeff (Crissy) Nielson; nieces, Deb (Ken) Thronburg and Sue Clause; great-nieces and nephews, Maria, Cindy and Amanda Nielsen, Tiffany Bartell, Shawn Bahnsen and JR Clause.
In addition to parents, Jody is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John "Bev" Buller.
Friends may call on Friday, May 24, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. to the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastor Donald Kuntz of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
