Danny Joe Smith

Danny Joe Smith, 67, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Sunday, February 10, 2019.

He was born on February 25, 1951 in Bristol, Virginia to the late Tilman V. Smith and Bonnie M. (Pritchard) Smith. He was a United States Air Force veteran, serving in the Vietnam War from 1969-1973. Upon discharge he worked for Ohio Asphalt Maintenance and then for Consolidated Biscuit.

Danny loved racing, especially NASCAR, and watching wrestling. He collected bald eagles, had a love for country music, and was serious and, as his family fondly remembers, sometimes stubborn. However, most important to Danny was family. He will be dearly missed.

Danny is survived by his wife, Cindy (Marty) Smith, whom he married on August 15, 1977; children, Danny (Gregg McConnell) Smith, Jamie Smith, and Debra (Patrick) King; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Donna) Pritchard; sister, Catherine (John) Crumbley; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved parrot, Hercules.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 14 from 5-8 p.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.
