Robert Edward Dowell

January 18, 1932 ~ April 26, 2019

Robert E. "Bob" Dowell, 87, of Sandusky, went Home to be with his Jesus early Friday morning, April 26, 2019, went his family at his side in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

Born on January 18, 1932 in Richmond, IN, the son of Carl Sevin and Lillian (Warner) Dowell. Having grown up in Huron, he was a 1952 graduate of Huron High School. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Army and had served honorably with the 17th Division, at the front line, during the Korean War, having received two Bronze Stars. Bob had worked at the Ford Motor Company for over 35 years, retiring in 1991. Over the years, what he mostly enjoyed, and found comfort in, was work around his home.

Bob was a true Christian. It was his faith in the Lord that carried him through his daily life. He will be remembered by his family for how he did the sweetest things for all of them throughout the years. It was his love of woodworking and working with his hands where he would make furniture for them or for the grandchildren he would create a rocking horse for them to enjoy.

He is survived by his daughter, Lynette (David) Brown of St. Petersburg, FL; three grandchildren, Trisha Brown, Joseph Robert Dowell and Jennifer Gibbs; three great-grandchildren, Devin Gibbs, Ashton Gibbs and Audrey Dowell; a sister, Bobby Wallace of Milan; and nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Patricia A. "Pat" (DeVanna) Dowell on June 17, 2016; his son, Robert Michael "Robbie" Dowell (1991); a sister, Dorothy Burden; and two brothers, Donald and Richard Dowell.

Visitation will be held on Friday morning, May 3, 2019, from 11:30 am until time of the funeral services at 12:30 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
