Jean Ann (Leber) Gilbert , 86, of Huron, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Parkvue Healthcare Center, Sandusky.
She was born Feb 21, 1931 in Norwalk, the daughter of Roy and Katherine "Kate" (Andrews) Leber.
She was a 1949 graduate from Milan High School. She was employed at Philco in Sandusky before becoming a mother and full time homemaker. She worked part-time at Strickfaden's Cheryl's Cookies, and Perkins Schools when her children were older. Jean was involved in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts for many years. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School helper, a choir member with her husband, and helped with many activities at St. John's United Church of Christ, where she was a member.
Jean is survived by her husband of 67 years, Roy Gilbert, whom she married October 7, 1950; three children, Katherine "Kathy" Gast of Sandusky, Jeff (Jeanette) Gilbert of Huron; and Lynne (Mel Poppleman) Gilbert of Bellevue; 6 grandchildren, Rhonda, Diana, Kennedy, Kaitie, Jeremy, and Marcus; 7 great-grandchildren, Kole, Nicholas, Austin, Cole Jax, Jayden, Annalise; 3 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Scagnetti of Norwalk; and a half brother, William (Jenny) Leber of OK; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Richard Leber.
There will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. A graveside committal service will be held Saturday, November 11th at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery, 2712 W. Mason Rd, Milan with Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney officiating.
