Raymond "Gene" Eugene Hinds

Raymond E. "Gene" Hinds, 82, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully late Wednesday afternoon, February 20, 2019, surrounded by his family at the Portland Place, in Sandusky.

Born on February 22, 1936, in Roscoe Village, OH ,the son of Floyd Raymond and Irene Azalia (Richcreek) Hinds. He was a 1954 graduate of Margaretta High School. For several years, he had worked as a pipe fitter for Independent Pipe and Supply Company, in Fremont, before retiring.

Gene is survived by his wife of 49 years, Wanda S. (Patrick) Hinds, whom he married on March 29, 1969; a daughter, Kimalee A. (Hinds) Milleson-Knerr of Sandusky; a son, Mark S. Hinds of St. George, UT; four grandchildren, Nikkole, Lindy, Josh and Jen; three great-grandchildren, Cathryn, Franklin and Salvadore "Sal"; a sister, Elayne (Ken) Watkins of Mt. Vernon, OH; a brother, Carl "Rick" Hinds of Castalia; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jeremy J. Knerr (2015); a sister, Marilyn Springer; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Hinds.

He was a member of the Sandusky Community Church of The Nazarene.

It was Gene's wishes to be cremated and no visitation or funeral services to be held. Interment will be held later in Castalia Cemetery, Castalia, OH.
