Michael "Mike" E. McEowen

July 14, 1976 - February 2, 2019

Michael "Mike" E. McEowen, 42, of Sandusky, OH passed away peacefully early Saturday morning at Stein Hospice on February 2, 2019 after a battle with cancer.

Mike was born on July 14, 1976 in Maumee, OH to Donald and Judy (Schwochow) McEowen. Mike attended Perkins High School and received an Associates Degree from the Ohio Business College. He worked as a cook at the Lunch Box. Mike was baptized and confirmed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Vickery, Ohio and was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sandusky. Mike enjoyed jet skiing, football, friends and family, model cars, classic car shows and was an avid Ohio Sate fan.

Mike is survived by his parents, Donald and Judy McEowen; daughter, Alexis McEowen; son, Nathan Downing; grandson, Oliver Downing; sister, Beckie (Paul) Krzeminski; nephews, Payton and Preston Krzeminski; special friend, Dawn Downing; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, George J.L. and Edna McEowen, Jim, Jane, and Gladine Schwochow; uncles Robert L. and George W. McEowen; cousins, Olen and Edward McEowen; and aunt, Lois McEowen-Olds.

Friends and family may call on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870. The funeral service will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870 on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 10:00 am. Pastor Eric Bodenstab will be presiding.
