Paul A. Schenk, 87, a longtime resident of Sandusky and recently of Huron, passed away on Thursday evening, February 7, 2019 in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
He was born on September 15, 1931 in Sandusky to the late Clarence Schenk and Alice (Behrendsen, Schenk) Reutter. A 1949 graduate of Sandusky High School, Paul was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War and then for 6 years in the Army Reserves. He worked 28 years as a Tool & die maker for Ford Motor Co., Sandusky.
He was a member of the former Resurrection Lutheran Church in Sandusky and of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sandusky. He was also a member of the AMVETS and the American Legion. Paul and his wife, Bobbie Jean (McDaniel) Schenk, did many things together, including wintering in Florida for many years, golf, and the Sandusky Power Squadron. He loved boating and fishing. He also loved farming with his grandson, Derek.
Paul is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jean, whom he married on September 27, 1952; children, Steven (Kathy) Schenk, Debra (Schenk, Mielke) Winfield; and Michael (Shelly) Schenk; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Alice "Dolly" (Reutter) Schwartz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Schenk and Fred Reutter.
It was Paul's wish to be cremated. Friends may call from 4 p.m. on Friday, February 15 in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky until memorial services begin at 6 p.m.
