Paul F. Smith

July 28, 1964 ~ June 15, 2017

Paul F. Smith, 52, of Huron passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, with family at his bedside.

He was born July 28, 1964 in Detroit, MI and graduated from Vermilion High School and EHOVE in 1982. He worked on the management team for Host Marriott Ohio Turnpike Travel Plaza Division in Amherst before becoming self-employed operating Shiner's Pub and City Limits Restaurant and Bar in Vermilion and most recently self employed as a contractor/installer of both Direct TV & Dish Network satellite systems for 13 years.

He enjoyed going to concerts, motorcycling, boating, traveling to warm beach destinations and competing in games of foosball, pool and fantasy football. He loved watching his children's teams compete in sports for Edison High School and watching The Ohio State University Buckeyes football, NFL football and Cleveland sports teams (Browns, Cavs, Indians). He always enjoyed celebrating holidays, special events and getting together with family and friends for an ice cold beer. Above all, his wife and children will remember him as a strong fighter, provider, protector, teacher, loving and caring husband, father and trusted friend, who is already missed so much. Until we meet with you again, we will treasure the memories you've given us and we know you are watching over us and doing great in Heaven. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, you are now with our God, Jesus Christ, forever in peace. We love you.

Paul is survived by his wife, Jean (Pleasnick) Smith, to whom he was married for 26 years: his children Christopher and Samantha Smith both at home in Huron, and Janelle (Taj) Summey of IN; sisters Sherri Phillips of Cleveland, Cindy (Tracy "Flip") Jagel of Boardman, Shannon Hite of Vermilion; brother Robert (Lisa) Smith of MS; parents-in-law David and Linda Pleasnick of Lorain; sister-in-law Michele (Braden) Polansky of TX; brothers-in-law David Pleasnick II of Oberlin, William Pleasnick of Lorain, Richard Pleasnick of Elyria; grandchildren Layten and Aurora Summey; nieces Terren (Tim) Paine of Vermilion, Stacey Maczulis of Westlake, Sydney Polansky of TX; nephews Michael Jagel of Campbell, Tracy (Bre) Jagel of Niles, Steven Hite of Vermilion, Bryon Smith, Owen Smith of MS, Kyle Polansky of TX; great-nieces Makenzie and Macie Paine, Magnolia Jagel; great-nephew MacCoy Jagel.
