Matthew E. Solberg

May 6, 1967 ~ May 2, 2019

Matthew (Matt) E. Solberg, 51, of Huron, passed away Thursday night, May 2, 2019 at Metro Health Medical Center, Cleveland, surrounded by his loving family, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Matt was born May 6, 1967 in Fairview Park, Ohio to Thomas Sr. and Betty Solberg. Matt lived in Huron nearly his entire life and graduated from Huron High School in 1985. Matt has been fortunate to work with his family for the past 34 years at their family owned and operated business, Huron Lagoons Marina and for the last five years at the family's second marina Holiday Harbor. Matt loved boating and loved all the boaters as well.

Matt is survived by his parents Thomas Sr. and Betty Solberg of Huron and St. James City, Florida; his children Kail Solberg and Kelsey (Cody) Shupe of Norwalk; his brother Tom Jr. (Sarah) Solberg of Huron; his sister Kris (Keith) Cottrell of LaBelle, Florida, and his girlfriend Jacqui Dowell of Huron. Matt is also survived by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins.

Matt was preceded in death by his infant sister Jennifer Solberg, and his maternal and fraternal grandparents.

Matt was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Huron, the Huron Eagles, LEMTA, Laguna Yacht Club, where he served as past Commodore. Matt loved boating, fishing, golfing and riding his motorcycle with his love Jacqui. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and many friends simply enjoying life. Matt's love for life and his amazing smile will be remembered forever by all his family, friends and the boating community.

Visitation for friends and family will be Tuesday, May 7th, at Mesenburgs' Plaza Place, 545 Cleveland Rd, Huron, from 3 pm-5 pm and 6 pm-8 pm. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, May 8 at Zion Lutheran Church, 930 Main Street, Huron, at 1:00 pm. In addition, there will be a Celebration of Life for Matt, sometime this summer, once Jacqui recovers from her injuries and is able to attend.
