Christopher J. Steinmetz

Christopher J. Steinmetz, 57, of Huron, died Feb 22, 2019 at Cleveland Metro Health Hospital, from injuries received on Jan 16, 2019 when he was a victim of a hit and run accident.

Chris bravely fought through indescribable injuries for 38 days, during that time; he was able to communicate in writing with his family, giving them the blessing of knowing how much he loved them.

Chris had an extraordinary mind, even at the end and remembered the details of the accident.

He is survived by his two sisters, Susan Steinmetz of Sandusky, Brigid Steinmetz of Huron; seven brothers, Stephen (Candy) of Sandusky, Tom (Jill), Ted, Jon, Brian (Joann), Vincent, and James (Candi) Steinmetz, all of Huron; a sister in law, Julie Steinmetz of Huron; 13 loving nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

Chris is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Carol (Cronk) Steinmetz; a sister, Jennifer Lynn and Albert Schenk Jr; a brother, Patrick; an infant brother, William Jude Steinmetz; an infant nephew, Allen Steinmetz; paternal grandparents, Harvey and Gladys Steinmetz; and his maternal grandparents, Rollin and Carrie Cronk; and his 4 dogs, Pupster, Tasha, Willie, and Mickey "Mickers".

Chris proudly served his country in the US Navy, following his graduation from Huron High School in 1980. He was an enthusiast of all sports and was an avid reader and wrote poetry. He worked many jobs, most recently doing construction with his brothers, and in family concession stands at local fairs.

He was a special father to Lindsey and Kaleb.

Chris was well known for his, on the spot, humor. No matter what mood a person was in, he could make them laugh in a heartbeat. Many described Chris as their friend and some described him as their hero.R.I.P. Chris, We love and miss you. Jesus has mended your broken body. No more suffering.
