Raymond A. Stiert

February 27, 1939 - July 1, 2019

Raymond A. Stiert, 80, a life-long resident of Milan, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019 at Stein Hospice Care Center following a lengthy illness.

Raymond was born on February 27, 1939 in Milan, OH to the late Joseph and Melba (Horn) Stiert.

Raymond worked for ODOT and the Erie County Department of Environmental Services before retiring in 1997. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. Raymond played guitar and performed with local bands. He particularly enjoyed the years spent playing music with his late wife, Evelyn. He was a member of the Norwalk Eagles, Aerie #711 and the Izaak Walton League of America, Monroeville Huron County Chapter.

Raymond is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Denise) Stiert of Norwalk and Scott (Diane) Stiert of Milan; daughters, Karen Stiert Christman of Monroeville and Tamie Stiert Wood of Norwalk; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Rakosky of Sandusky; one niece and two nephews.

In addition to parents, Raymond is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn M. Stiert, on May 16, 2019.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory Milan Chapel, 1 S. Main St., Milan. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, July 5, 2019 at 11:00 am. Rev. Ric Babcock will officiate.

Burial will follow in Milan Cemetery, Milan.
