February 7, 1922 - October 20, 2018
Robert L. Taylor, 96, of Huron, passed away on October 20, 2018, in Sandusky, following a brief illness.
Robert was born February 7, 1922, in Milan Township, and graduated from Huron High School in 1940.
He considered himself a farmer. He had graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors Degree in Education and taught Industrial Arts and Mechanical Drawing for a number of school districts, including Berlin Heights, Sandusky, and South Central.
He worked as a machinist at Wappler Instruments and Nickolas Equipment. However, farming was woven throughout the entirety of his life. He served on the Berlin Heights Board of Education and the Berlin Township Zoning Board. He was on the Berlin Heights Volunteer Fire Department for several years.
Over the years, he enjoyed reading and traveling, with the southwest states being his preferred destination.
He enjoyed woodworking and was a fine artisan. He was a gentle man who underestimated his abilities, talents, and contributions. He was creative and had a gift for being able to fix anything.
He was reserved with a keen sense of humor - his love and appreciation for his family was evident. He is survived by his children, Stuart (Ginger) Taylor, of Huron, Robert "Steve" Taylor, of Huron, Todd (Mitzi) Taylor, of Milan, Jodi (Bill) Harris, of Huron, Mary Ann (Howard) DeLong, of Norwalk; his grandchildren, Jake (Carrie) Taylor, Joe (Lucy) Taylor, Leslie (Eric) Johnston, Margot (James) Bertuccini, Stefan (Hailee) Taylor, Tony(Christina) Harris, Ryan (Jamie) Harris, Mike (Naomi) Harris, Susan (Michael) Freeman, Trina Werner, and James (Rhondell) DeLong; 16 great-grandchildren; and nephew, Tom (Kathy) Taylor, of Huron; and "daughter," Bev Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacquelyn (Fries) Taylor; daughter, Constance Taylor; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Ardis Taylor; sister, Faye Taylor; and parents, Annie (Banfield) and Lynn Taylor.
Friends may call Friday from 11:00 a.m. to the time of services at 2:00 p.m. at Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Milan.
