Roger D. Ward, 65, residing in Sandusky went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday morning December 16, 2018 at the Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born on August 10, 1953 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Reather and Polly R. (Ferrell) Ward. He lived in Milan, OH and Elyria, OH, before moving to Sandusky.
Roger had been employed with Warehouse Tire, Elyria, OH, Miller’s Farm in Milan, OH, Delphi Chassis Systems formerly known as New Departure Hyatt and eventually retired from Toledo Power Train, Toledo, OH in 2006 following many years of service.
Roger had an amazing sense of humor, and many stories to share. He was a proud member of AA and was able to mentor, help and impact many others through their recovery. He was always looking out for others, helping wherever and whenever, he could. Roger enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, traveling to Florida with his mother, taking walks with his wife, and his greatest joy of all, was spending time with his grandchildren.
Roger is survived by the love of his life, Diane M. (Buckner) Ward of Sandusky; his children, Scott R. (Angela) Ward of Norwalk, Michael (Constance) Ward of Clyde, Jason Evans, Sheena Evans and Joshua Evans all of Cleveland; his grandchildren, Michael, Nevaeh, Jacksyn, Jayanna, Jazzarion and Jaclynn; his great-grandchildren, Calieb, Caiden and Kensley. Roger is also survived by his siblings, Mabel S. (Gary) Weimer, Linda L. (Sidney) Weimer, Rick (Dawn Fell) Ward all of Norwalk; brother- in-law, David A. McDonough, Norwalk; his aunt, Ruby Tule of Norwalk and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia McDonough, and uncles, Cletus L. “Doc” Ferrell, Frank Ferrell and “Junior “Junebug” Ferrell.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 10 AM until time of home going services at 1 PM in the Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave. Sandusky, Ohio. The Rev. Paul Smoot will officiate.
