ISAAC YATES – and Polly A. Neal were married in this county January 6, 1870.
They were both born in this county; he in 1851, and his wife in 1855.  They have the
following children:  John H., born February 7, 1871, died July 6, 1871; Andochia,
born June 17, 1873; Elizabeth, September 9, 1874; Charles, February 28, 1875;
Mary Jane, January 24, 1876; Olive, April 24, 1878; Neal, December 28, 1880.  The
parents of Mr. Yates, Benjamin and Elizabeth (Garret) Yates, came to Lawrence
county in 1828.  Mrs. Yates’ parents, Walter and Andochia (Day) Neal, settled in this
county in 1821.  Isaac Yates is a farmer residing in Aid township.  His postoffice
address is Arabia, Lawrence county, Ohio.

CHRISTIAN YINGLING – was born in West Pennsylvania, April 24, 1788, and died
September 12, 1856.  His wife, Martha Lee, was born in Patrick county, Virginia,
August 2, 1795, and died May 8, 1877.  Her funeral services were conducted by
Reverend I.N. Clark, of Portsmouth; the text, “To die is gain.”  She was a member of
the First Baptist church of Ironton for sixty years.  Their marriage took place in
Lawrence county, Ohio, October 18, 1814.  She is the daughter of Reverend John
Lee, the first pastor of the Storm’s Creek church, the Baptist church of Ironton.  Mr.
Yingling came to this county in 1798.  His father, Andrew Yingling, served for seven
or eight years in the war of the revolution.  Christian Yingling was a soldier of the war
of 1812.  John Lee, father of Mrs. Yingling, who is deceased, was a relative of
General Robert E. Lee, of the Confederate army.  He died January 20, 1840.  
Frances (Ward) Lee, mother of Mrs. Yingling, died April 30, 1838.  The children of
Christian and Martha Yingling are: Levina, residing at South Point, Lawrence county;
Peninah, residing at Westerville, Ohio; John L., died July 30, 1835; Lucinda, died
December 30, 1877; William L., resides at home; Harriet, resides at Monitau
county, Missouri; Andrew, died August 26, 1835; Daniel, died September 25, 1827;
James H., resides in Scioto county, Ohio; Martha A., resides at home; Christian,
died May 15, 1834; Robert H., died September 25, 1879.  William L. and Martha A.
Yingling, son and daughter of the subject of this sketch, are now living on the old
homestead of their grandfather, which was settled in the year 1798, and which is
situated in Hamilton township, and which is composed of a large sized farm.  Their
address is Hanging Rock, Lawrence county, Ohio.
