Campground Cemetery Records
(partial transcription)
Lamar County, Alabama

Submitted by:  Greg Green (alicewgreen@aol.com )

Notes:

This is a partial inventory performed in the summer of 1999 by Greg Green.

The cemetery is located approximately one half mile south of the on eastern most entrance of Sorghum Hollow Road to US 278  A marker on Sorghum Hollow Road  states "Campground Cemetery Lamar County Genealogical and Historical Society 1997 Donated by descendants of Seborn Dill".

The cemetery sits in a little oval bowl on the side of a hill. Two very large cedars dominate the grounds. Within the confines of the cemetery there are around sixty graves. Many of these are marked only with fieldstone and there are several sunken unmarked graves.

There was a grave of a baby that was listed as unknown. The tombstone stated that the child was born and died August 8, 1898. It was a child of "W.N. and M.L."
