Excerpts From The Lamar County Register Of Colored Marriages

I hope these may prove useful to some researcher.  While looking for my family's marriage records in the index book. I jotted down familiar names but did not write the dates only the page number for the certificate itself.  Sorry, I've learned a lot since then.  This is not the complete index. The complete index and book of marriage bonds and certificates is at the Lamar County Courthouse in Vernon, Alabama. Some marriage records can be accessed online although I found many Lamar County marriages listed with Fayette County. It may stem from the creation of Lamar from parts of surrounding counties.  Check Marion County Al. as well as Lowndes and Monroe Counties in Mississippi.
