No. 137-APPLICATION OF SOLDIERS OR SAILORS OVER 70 YEARS OF AGE- Printed and for sale by Brown Printing Co., Montgomery, Ala.

STATE OF ALABAMA,
LAMAR COUNTY.
Before me, R. L. Bradley, Judge of Probate, in and for said State and County, personally appeared R.W. Guyton who being by first duly sworn, deposes and says that he is now on the pension roll of Lamar County, in the Third Class; that he hereby makes application under Act approved April 24th, 1911, to be placed on the pension roll of the second class on account of his age, he being at the time of making this application over the age of seventy years, or have lost a leg, or foot, or arm, or hand, or the entire use thereof, further states that he was born in Lamar County Alabama, April 23, 1844 that he depends solely upon his pension for support and maintenance; that he is unable to procure any other positive proof as to his age, as their is no one in this part of the country can testify as to his birth.

I  J.T. Allen, do solemnly swear that I am acquainted with R.W. Guyton, whose name is signed to the forgoing application, and that I have known him 34 years; that, from personal knowledge of him and his general appearance, I believe that the is over seventy years of age, or has lost a leg, or foot, or arm, or hand, or the entire use thereof as stated in this application.

You are hereby notified that a charge has been duly preferred against you to the effect that you are ineligible to a pension under the laws of this State, because,
The name R.Y. Guyton has not been found on the rolls of Co I of any 10th Alabama organization, C.S.A. or of any 10th, Confederate organization, C.S.A.

Within twenty days from this date you can appear before me, at my office in the State Capitol, in person or by counsel, and offer testimony by witness or the affidavits of witnesses in explanation or refutation of said charges. In case you make your defense by the affidavits of witnesses, those affidavits must be made and signed and sworn to before the Probate Judge of your county, and duly attested by his official signature.
In the event that you fail within twenty day to make answer or defense to said charges, the charge will be taken as confessed, and your default will be duly reported to the State Board of Pension Examiners for final determination.

SPECIAL TERM
This is the 17 day of July 1914.

Before me, R.L. Bradley, Judge of Probate in and for said county, personally appeared S. Taylor & W. T. Stanford who, after being first duly sworn, deposes and says that he served in the service of the Confederate Army in Company C, 10th Regiment of Alabama Cavalry and that R.W. Guyton also served in said company and Regiment with me, and that he did not desert but was a faithful soldier, and was honorably discharged.
