"This picture was given to me by one of the ladies i work with. One of the little girls in the picture, Jerushie Patterson would grow up to become, Mrs. Harley Paul Carden.
Harley Paul was a half-brother to my g-grandfather, James Polk Carden .James was the son of John Carden and his second wife, Malinda" Molly" Dempsey where Harley Paul was the son of John and his 4th wife, Martha Hammett Hall Carden.  All are buried at Shady Grove cem. between Hackleburg and Phil Campbell Al.

Bedford School ca. 1920's - submitted by Marty Harper 7/9/02 This is a picture of Bedford School in the 1920’s. I do not know the people. My Mother (Lucy Corbell Criddle), an Aunt (Ada Corbell Bardon), and an Uncle (Jackson Corbell)  are in it. I would love to know who the others are. Bedford was located west of Vernon.  Thank you, Marty Harper

This is a picture of youths from the Springhill Community, Vail Beat in Southern Lamar Co. Walton Vail appears to be about 16 years old in the picture, that would make the picture taken about 1900-1901.  The Early School for that Community was called CrossRoads School and then Later Springhill School, which this is I don't know. I have named the people that we can identify.  Can anyone name the rest.  Walton Vail (1885-1976) and Ada O. Dawkins (1886-1966) are my grandparents.
